What Shocks to buy when you don't want coilover
#1
I need to replace my shocks, car is MY 99. As I don't want to lower the car I see no need for coilovers. Actually my intention was to buy Bilstein shocks, but today only the PSS9 coilover is available.
Any proposals for shocks ?
Thanks Lars

Hi LArs.
Whiteline in AUS say that koni is the way to go without going coilover!!.
I already sold my H&R coilover(just waiting for my Kw3 to arrive,6 weeks delivery)
I´m sure that the koni are cable of delivering what you want them to.
I can sell them to you for 1400dkr a piece incl freight.

Koni don't supply complete struts but only inserts so you have to butcher your existing struts. I will never use Koni after an incident with a previous car. IMO they are flawed since only the rebound rate is adjustable and the bump rates on Konis are always soft. So if you stiffen the damper the car tends to jack-down which isnt good if you find a bump mid-corner.
I've bought a set of KYB AGX ajustables from the states, they seem to be well regarded over there (if that counts). Havn't fitted them yet - still waiting on springs from Whiteline. The AGXs are not yet available from KYB UK.

IIRC $440 from Summit-Racing -> £350 or thereabouts delivered.
They are soon to be released in the UK. It'll be interesting to see at what price though.
I've had them for months but still hav'nt found time to fit them yet
The single adjuster varies both bump and rebound settings together.
For anyone who wants to try Konis be absolutely sure that you never ever bottom-out unless you want to have the man at Koni laugh at you when you complain they're no longer adjustable and have gone all soft and he says that "well if you bottom out the adjuster is going to break isn't it"!
