With a reasonable budget how would you achieve the best of the above... (Car is 94UK Wagon)
Thinking of the following mods (** Means Done allready)
Uprated Front ARB **
Uprated Rear ARB
Uprated Drop Links Front **
Uprated Drop Links Rear ** - Not fitted yet
Upper Front Strut Brace **
Lower Front Stut Brace **
Rear Upper Strut Brace
Rear Lower Strut Brace
Alloy Front Arms
Uprated Poly Bushes (ALL)
Coilovers - Dont Know which yet.. Maybe Proflex?
What else should I look at changing??
Adjustable camber plates etc?
Wheels Tyres and Brakes Undecided on as yet.

From what it says under your user name, your car should accelerate reasonably well.
Stiffening the body is a good idea (braces you mentioned).
I have just bough fully adjustable Proflex suspension (gravel spec, for road use). Not installed yet as I am only getting the car next week (1997 Impreza GT with another turbine and ECU, similar to what you probably have).
I expect to be able to find the right ride height and bump / rebound adjustments for those within a day or two. I am also considering a castor increase, since that is appearently what the scooby's problem is (understeer and lack of turn in). Not sure whether an ALK is a good idea, and not sure how I can get the gas reservoir through a camber adjustable top mount, but we'll see.
Have you found any interesting parts?

By interesting parts, I meant like, say a camber and castor adjustable top mount for example. I think I saw one once, but cant remember who makes it (Jap stuff).
I'll gladly share my Proflex settings once I've got them set up
Take care

Forgot to say I remember years ago a friend of mine had a 97 MY Impreza saloon and simply changed the rear anti roll bar to dial out some understeer. A cheapo solution, but he said it helped. Without the front one.

DW,
get in touch with andyf,he has a set of leda coilovers that would work well on a heavy UK,packed full of ice.I could not believe the way his car handled with them, when there was 3 of us in it but he said the rear was too hard when he was by himself, with his car being a light weight.

David,
I don't believe you have an uprated front ARB, but standard rear - you'd normally do the rear first to reduce the understeer. You're car must enter wet roundabouts like a duck landing on ice

I heard more bad than good about Leda. I recommend you look at the technical datasheet / sepcifications for the suspension you want to buy. If it's the right design, diameter, spring rate and adjustability, then why not?

would also be interested in proflex settings.
claudius, why have you left evodom? or have you not?
is this as well as the lancer.
and more importantly, if you ahve switched, why take a step backwards?

Let me see if I can find a link to something I posted about suspension elsewhere.
If you want the best possible damping and longevity (sp?), little roll but good comfort, drive over bumps and through potholes like there arent any, then you'd be looking for something like Proflex or Öhlins: 45mm diameter, monotube design, height adjustable, bump adjustable, rebound adjustable. The very latest versions from Proflex have two separate bump adjustments (one for high and one for low damper speed) and are also available with either one or two ballbearings (not sure what those were so good for).

David,
If you're doing the do then all of the above but I would add the ALK and Bump Steer Mod too (not forgetting proper geometry setup).
The Avo's are good VFM at around £650ish and work quite well but as you probably know, the bump and rebound are adjusted together and you get what you pay for. Also, there have been some fairly serious problems with Avo's on Scoobs in the past which I presume have now been sorted but thought it worth you knowing.
Ta,
Matt

It's a French saying, meaning you cannot get everything for nothing. A bit like your "you get what you pay for", but much funnier (if you speak French ).
For 150 you get springs (which can cause damper failure)
for 650 you get avons (which cannot be rebound adjusted separately!)
for 2500 (approx) you get Proflex Evo 1
for 3500 you get Proflex Evo 3 (the best susp available to my knowledge)
Went to see my suspension specialist shop yesterday and found out what the ballbearings are good for: relieve stress from the top mount.
Take care

Well I just picked up some S/H Ledas, which I think will be just the ticket on my heavy legacy!
I was tempted by some Ohlins but they looked to be short stroke, and only one adjustment (Leda is single bump/rebound adjustment).
At least for me, Leda are only 8 miles away, so getting them revalved or rebuilt is very easy.

David, what about Drummond 50mm dampers? Thats fully adjustable competition stuff. Available from Townend Garage, circa £2k.
Proflex is the bollocks we used to have it on an Astra rally car. My mate is looking to put Drummond on his new rally car cos the Proflex is over the budget.

They cost me £780, they were only on a car for 5000miles, and are in good nick.
I know you can get AVO and TSL new for that money (or less) but for me having Leda on my door step is a big bonus. Rebuilding is cheap, even for new shafts, I can get custom valving, shafts etc, all very easily.
Leda do a 2 way adjustable kit with seperate canisters for more money, SS sell it as the Leda 'C' kit I think.

You can have my Leda's for £450. 2weeks use only from new, they don't squeek or knock. They are fixed damping adjustable height. The damping was matched at assembly to the springs which are 325/225 scoobysport settings.
I found them too stiff at the rear for my ra when I'm in it by myself, but bang on with 2 passengers or perhaps a wagon having a heavier rear.
