Unhappy

I know less than nothing about Shock Absorbers so need some help.

My Subaru dealer tells me that the lift in the front strut and knocking noise means I need a new shock absorber - but cost of part from Japan is £380 plus £50 carriage!

Simpsons, grey import specialists in New Malden, say they can get a Sachs version for £270 and are telling me I should do both fronts at the same time.

Any advice appreciated on whether Sachs are OK and whether both should be replaced at same time.

Thanks

Mark,

Def should do both to keep balance and handling consistency.

Dunno about the Sachs, but you may want to try AVOturboworld Japan - they seem to be able to get a hold of a lot of stuff. Don't know wbout the prices... They have a link on www.ApexJapan.com you can click through to get to them - e-mail them for info.

Just thought of another option - the Bilsteins are rebuildable (at least here in Japan). Wonder if someone in the UK can help...

IMHO, don't just toss them out.
