best ay to sort my suspention
after having a race with a escort cossie tonight (privite road of course!) i've come to the conclusion that my 11 year old scoob handles like a boat!
so.............. (deep breath) i'm after some advice to do with uprated bushes, droplinks (assuming that they are those thing on the rear anti roll bar connected to the stabilizer bar) anti roll bars front and back, and fineally the springs and struts. on and can some one explane about top mounts.
so wheres the best to get some stuff from and how much are indivual bits, can't afford the whole lot in one go.
oh is a my93 jdm saloon.
thanks
julian

Julian, you sound as if you do not know all the tricks with Scooby suspension (absolutly no insult intended) as we all have to discover the dark world of Scooby tuning!
Depending on where you are, but Pwer Station in Cheltenham are Whiteline dealers, they will sort your car (I did my own so no connection to me) and do the most important bit you left from your list, a full laser alignment.
If you want to research the task go to www.whiteline.com.au and read about their Project car.
Buy Japanese Car magazine (you have just missed a 6 month series on what to do and why(!) to a WRX Wagon, was a very good series of articles) and you will find about 6 Companies to do the job for you.
Modification of the car is simple if you use the right bits, the work is easy (hard bushes are NOT easy) and for a road car you don't need them really.
That Escort will then be in your grasp!
Hope this helps you. If you are dead serious I can detail the order of mods to do from mild to wild which = cheap to bloody expensive.
Good luck, lots of others have been there!

Can I leap in on this, please?
I fitted HKS springs and Cusco front brace today, and will be getting Whiteline ARBs next week. After that, what is the next best modification for handling? It's a 93 WRX Saloon, and can't end up rock hard as it's the family car too.
Thanks
Mitch.

Assuming the car(s) are road going :
1 Accurate alignment and realy good tyres on stock rims.
2 Add ARB and solid drop links from Whiteline (22mm)
3 Add ALK to 2 above, needs 1 again.....£££££££££££££ get used to it.
4 Eibach springs on stock shocks if they are good condition. Repeat 1 above.
5 Now you want to go round bends even faster:
6 Coil overs (LEDA etc), the right spring rates (hard is not best), adjustable top mounts for the fronts and Whiteline camber bolts all round. Demon alignment job (again).
7 Add Whiteline adjustable rear lower links (widens the rear track) and polybush the whole car. Your wife will hate it , but you won't.....
I went at it in 2 stages, but in no time at all you will want to squeeze the most out of the chassis.
To ease your mind, take the car to a good Specialist (TSL/Power Engineering/TEG/Roger Clark) and tell them your budget and needs, they all know what to do to the car and give you a very big grin. All this is better than lots of BHP.
Good luck!

Cheers again 911
After the Whiteline ARBs go on, I may put on the ALK and drop links before going to TSL for the alignment, to save on the journey and 125 quid a pop.
I won't go the polybush route at least for now, as it'll probably rattle the kids heads off.

I think this is a sensible idea. I hill climb my Sti so the extreem route is the only option. you can go too far, and ruin a nice 'balance'.
The mods and the TSL set will be realy nice.
Your wife will still love you and the kids will fall to sleep, BLISS!
Good luck,

depends what you're going to do with the car; I use a rear strut brace as no doubt 911 does, but that's because we use the cars hard on various types of track; we use them to fine tune the handling.
I'm not sure it would be a massive benefit on the road m8.

If it doesn't sell, I'll probably put it on then.
Do you have to take the brace apart to fit it, as it looks as though it goes through behind the back seat.
Aternatively, I could always get off my fat *** and have a look after work

Not sure at all about braces.
My Sti has the carbon front top brace (nice and pritty) and I have the big MRT brace on the lower front. I have nothing at the back.
I have toyed with the rear diff cage brace, but these ar rare and I may make one mysel one sunday as it is ver simple.
If you car is a sedan then the gain is nearly nothing for road driving. May be a different story for the Wagon?
I'd save my money and buy better tyres!!!!!!

Yes, it's a sedan. Probably more beneficial for a wagon.
I need to get tyres soon. I want ones with a decent amount of grip but won't wear out too soon. (Don't we all?)

I raced on Toyos 2 years ago, really impressed, but you are in danger of the usual debate flaring up!
I think they suit the car well, and Goodyears the same, such a persoal thing. Mine lasted about 12000 miles so not too bad!
