Default Prodrive Spring question...

Im thinking about having the Prodive Spring kit fitted to my MY03 WRX.

When I spoke to a non-Subaru garage about fitting them, they said that the front and rear top mounts would need replacing to. At £96 for the rears and £144 for the front plus £195 for the springs, its begining to sound expensive. Does anyone know whether the top mounts need to be replaced?

Also, how much have Subaru dealers been charging you to fit the kit?

Thanks in advance... F

No they don't

The spring kit comes with a different rubber bump stop which replaces the standard one. Apart from that they are a straight swop. My dealer in Milton Keynes was doing supply & fit for around £400 (I think) inc geo check but worth a ring around depending where you are. I could also recomend Powerstation as you could get the dogs of a geo set up whilst you are there as well

Simon,

I though the bump stop was only changed on Sti's?

Regards,

Ian

The Prodrive MY03 WRX spring kit is springs only - no revised bump stop supplied. They use the standard Subaru top mounts so nothing else to buy.

Suggest you use a specialist with good alignmment equipment.

I had mine done at TSL - very good service, reasonable price.

Powerstation were cheaper but it would have been a 200 mile round trip instead of 70 miles to TSL.

Local Subaru dealer charged me £320 all in and did a very good job as well. Adjusted the tracking but not the camber (I don't think) so need to get it checked but otherwise the car is great and thoroughly recommended.

Looks alot better as well

When the front struts are removed the camber setting is completly lost as the uppermost of the two bolts is the camber adjustment bolt (eccentric) If the bolt position was noted or marked before removal the setting should be close on re-assembly but it should eventually be re-set as lowering the car has the natural effect of altering the camber slightly.

Hmmm didn't know that John. Perhaps I'd better schedule that alignment check in sooner rather than later. Thanks for the advice
