Default PowerStation suspension Stage 1 or Stage 2?

Hi all.

I have a MY03 WRX Wagon that Im looking at getting Powerstation to do the suspension for me. I want to reduce the "roll" without affecting the ride to much and generally sharpen things up. Any advice would be very much appreciated particularly from those with these two options?

Stage 1
Rear Adjustable Roll Bar
Anti-Lift Kit
Front Adjustable Roll Bar
4-Wheel Alignment

or

Stage 2
Eibach Springs
Rear Adjustable Roll Bar
Anti-Lift Kit
Front Adjustable Roll Bar
4-Wheel Alignment

Thanks

Mark

Stage 2 without a doubt.
The last item on your list above will make all the diifference. The parts are great but Curtis/Andy know how to bring them all together as they have on my race car.

Graham.

The springs in the stage 2 pack will give you a slightly firmer ride and lower the ride height giving the car a better stance and also lower the center of gravity slightly.

Its probably something you'll end up doing so i'd do it all at the same time

I've got stage 1, with engine and boot strut braces as well, on standard sti suspension and springs. After trying other setups, I'm loath to go the whole hog with uprated springs, as I know I'll lose the "family friendly ride" I'm used to, and need.
AST's are the next big step as you know, and their adjustability would out perform the uprated springs by far, so I'm saving for that.
If ride comfort is your bag, stage 1
If absolute control is your bag stage 2/3

Thanks for the advice really appreciate it.

With regards to a loss of ride comfort how much harder are the Eibach Springs? Im not precious but I'm not keen on having my fillings shaken out!!

How much better would the roll be with just the stage one?

If you're worried as I was about too harsh a ride with eibach springs, it might be worth asking ps if they can fit some sti springs instead, I'm sure they'll have a few sets in from people upgrading to the stage 3 kit
I'm running an 03sti, so the ride will be harder than yours anyway, see "my scooby"

The stock Sti can be replicated using AST's, but the Sti system, especially the V5/6 (P1) is a very very nice set-up for a road car.

The more you modify, the more focused it becomes!

Fitting Sti springs is a great idea.

Would STi springs fit onto a MY03 WRX Wagon?

Ask Curtis or Andy at Powerstation as I know little about the New Age cars.

When I was there (a while a go now) there was a pile of STI springs without a home as they were so poor compared with the the Eibach ones. I was even offered a set for free. I would say ride comfort was improved with the Eibachs over stock WRX springs as well as much improved faster performance. This was with an MY03 wagon, just remember that the wagon needs longer springs at the back than the saloon otherwise it looks as if there is a piano in the boot.

I have some STi springs left over when i had the prodrive ones fitted. Someone can have them if they want, no money, just postage. I was going to bin them.

The prodrive (eibach?) springs made a different to the car, less roll as you'd expect, but a much firmer ride. Expect dash rattles to start...

Thanks again for your input guys i really to value your advice.

I have booked myself in with Powerstation on Friday morning for the stage 2, but i am now slightly concerened about the "dash rattles" comment!

How bad will this actually be, the guy I spoke to at Powerstation said that they weren't to much firmer than the original ones so I'm a bit confused?!

I cover alot of miles and really can't live with something too harsh...

It is harsher, but you get used to it. I can't remember what it was like previously.

The comments i got about the dash rattles, were to turn the stereo up.

It could've been coincidence, but after fitting the PD springs, i got and still have a dash rattle.

from what i cans ee, the only difference between the two packages listed above is the inclusion of eibach springs on the second package, £150 at the most and a couple of hours labour, cant see it being that bigger a jump in price, why dont you go for stage 1 and see how you get on, if you want it a bit harder, go buy the eibach springs and then change them yourself. shouldnt cost that much and reletively easy to change. you would probably want to get it set up again afterwrds as well if you did it that way.

Good point.....think thats probably best way to go but will I not have to have the geometry redone as the Eibach's lower it by 20mm? For some reason I thought that would be required but I'm probably wrong...

You will definitly need a full realignment after changing the springs.

If you want a good ride then fit Sti springs right for the year of car.

I tell you something I keep going on about and thats Noisekiller. If you fit these as well as the stage 2 it will 'feel' better than your standard car is now. As Noisekiller takes away loads of vibration thru your feet. Do a google search for 'noisekiller' They have custom kits for subaru

If you have the money, i would do it. There is not roll/pitch nothing with my car now, even under heavy braking/cornering etc.

The harshness soon goes, especially when you appreciated the reduced roll.

I'd go stage 2, i had the eibach springs on mine, didn't actually lower the car, but were much more progressive and predictable than the stock ones. As a road package the stage 2 parts you've mentioned along with a set up is an excellent choice.

Hi,

Had the Stage 2 done.... happy days !!

I have posted my thanks elsewhere in the General section but I am really chuffed with the kit and the service, it has transformed my car totally. Can't recommend these guys enough will definitely be going back

I was still unsure when I arrived but Rich having read my concerns on this site said that I could take it for a test drive and if i wasn't happy he would replace the old springs no questions asked. Obviously a very fair (and confident!!) chap, can't fault it, no hard sell at all.

The springs aren't at all harsh and, I feel, have actually improved the ride believe it or not! The car now has so much more grip and corners brilliantly. No roll whatsoever, it now corners "as flat as a witches' tit" happy days!

My advice to anyone is get this done!

Brilliant

Thanks to Curtis Andy and Rich.....will be seeing you guys soon....just don't tell my ladyfriend

It must just be down to the shocking roads up north then

You made the right choice. Like the try before you buy option.
