Default Grinding noise from suspension when wet?

Hi All,

Wonder if you guys can shed some light on a weird squealing grinding noise coming from my front suspension when ever it's been raining hard or after a car wash. It only happens as I say when the cars wet and whenever I drive over bumps at less than 40mph. I had the PowerStation stage 2 work done a while ago and can't fault it for changing the cars handling but the noise is starting to get on my ****, particularly as it's been doing nothing but rain recently!

Any advice or comments much appreciated

Mark

Mine did that (AST Sportline I's). Whenever it was wet there would be a noise like a cross between a creak and a dog barking (really !) on some bumps. It went away as soon as things dried up.

The other day I sprayed some '3 in 1' PTFE-based lubricant around the bump stops and the strut itself, and now it is perfectly quiet wet or dry.

I think you'll find it's the poly bushes on the front ARB, mine did it for a while after having the T25 kit fitted, again only after heavy rain or washing the car (wheels).

After a couple of months it has stopped, possible after I sprayed them with some Teflon lube.. They can just be seen on full lock (bright yellow) if you follow the ARB inboard from the hub..

Could be, might be a different cause to mine. In my case I only sprayed the bumpstop area, they were very tight and I thought the noise might be caused by friction between them and the shaft. Why the noise is associated with wet weather is a mystery, maybe a squeakyness like squeaky-clean dishes when they are wet ?

I think the 'squeeky dish' analogy is spot on..!

Poly bushes are much harder that the rubber oem ones.

Never had this prob on both of my AST systems, but the bushes (anywhere) benefit from a squirt of the silicon teflon sprays.

all my suspension is platic bushed, and i spray about every 2 months and wipe the surplus up as grit sticks to it making a good grinding paste just where you dont need it..
