type r suzzy
hi all ive got a 97 type r which is a version 3/4 done a few track days with a view to doing hill climbs when im a bit better at handling the car so using trackdays as a test bed for me and the car, im thinking about changing the suspension and wondered what was best to go for? ill also be doing a bit of organised road racing in croatia and the odd quarter mile 3 a year to be precise, does anyone know what suspension i have or how to find out and weather or not its ajustable? and if so how,and what set up would best suit my requirments i know its a bit trial and error but i need a starting point and have zero knowledge of suspension sorry for the long post but iv'e got lots to learn..

I have hillclimbed my Sti V3 for 5 years now in the UK, but this is my opinion:

If in good condition keep the Trype R system, but add the following:
Set of Eibach springs to lower the car 20mm
Whiteline 22mm front and 24 mm anti roll bars and steel links on the rear for the rear bar. The fronts are steel already.
Whiteline Anti Lift Kit to the front and camber bolts to each corner. This will add caster to the front geometry and allow the alignment technician to add good amount of negative camber to each corner.
A very good aligmnment job on the chassis.
That lot will transform the car for hillclimbing.

As your confidence grows you will need far more radical changes but the above will allow you to use every last bhp from the drivetrain.
3
Always fit the very best tyres the rule book allows, a real race seat and a good 75mm wide race seat belt system.
your current suspension is probably not adjustable but will work well with the above.

IMHO:
Depends on where you are, but in the Midlands I would not hesitate but go to Powerstation and get Curtis to do the lot. Ace guy.
In the south East Mocom, North Midlands, Roger Clark Motor Sport and a few others well versed in road/road-race/race set-ups.
