The std handling is pretty rubbish, even with a few uprated parts on. Only way to sort it properly is to change the whole lot. Going to Time Attack it so went for Tein full race setup with heavy springs.

Agreed!
A day on an airfield taught me a lot about the standard handling, a lot of understeer unless you really provoke it at higher speeds.
Started off with rear ARB and droplinks, also an ALK which all helped a lot.
Then wanted to get rid of the slightly fragile and crashy behaviour, so went for prodrive springs. Much better without being harsh.
Having a proper alignment done also improved things.
And my last point - can't understand why people would change their suspension for cosmetic reasons Would you buy better looking brakes which don't slow the car as well? A shinier turbo which produces less power? Tyres with a nicer tread pattern but no grip?
Sorry, rant over

I've not messed with the ride height, so not done it for looks. As said, they have great traction, but don't handle so well. With just 22mm front,24mm rear arb's, drop links and sti6 suspension, makes the world of difference!

I changed mine because simply out of the box they dont cut it IMHO, even played with i'm still not sure its quite as good as a std 172. The same can be said of the brakes too tho.

something to spend me money on when there's no sex drugs n rock n roll available, ...............which is most of the time TBH.
oh, and extra grip for a fun ride. most pieces i have added have been to cancel things out, like roll, bounce and lift.........which all take away from grip.

Like others have said - traction is excellent but the handling is not the best. Did mine to improve the handling but it also looks better, which was a bonus . Coilovers next when the dreaded suspension knock starts .

There advantage is clearance and the potential for adjustment (if they have it) most cheap ones are worse than std IMHO.

Mine were less than £500 new, infinitely adjustable for ride height, easy to change springs if required, 32 settings from soft to hard, absolutely transformed my 04 Sti. Still ok on B roads too.
What more could I have wished ???

After 5 1/2 years the std 03sti shocks where knocking, fretting and generally dead. Only done 20k miles on them though, cos they where replaced foc once!

When i got the car i thought it sat too high, so i fitted a set of H+R 50mm springs, which were good, but car still wasnt the way i wanted it.
Two years later and i now have a set of these bad boys going in next week:
....along with all the whiteline goodies:
....and a full geometry setup for fast road
I have upped the cars power a bit lately and now want some decent suspension to match, so im hoping for great things from the AST coilover setup along with the Whiteline gear

Feminine and cars are a bad mix ! You end up with things like this....
Possibly THE reason for not wanting pink anywhere near any car, EVER !

Lowered my forester by nearly 5 inches,
first so it goes round corners without falling over
second so theres no gap between wheels and arches
and third, so it looks the b*ll*cks.
STI Struts, G-Max springs and Whiteline roll centre adjusters.
Its a bit more bouncy now though.
