Angry Suspension Issues - what are my legal rights??

I had Tein Adjustable suspension fitted by a Subaru dealer late last year, I assumed having spent a lot of money that they would have set up the camber and tracking correctly, however now the insides of my tyres have gone bald (tyres fitted the same week as the suspension) and the car is illegal and dangerous to drive.

I have gone back to the dealer for recourse, but they have said that its not their problem and to go away as they advise all customers who have suspension fitted to get a four wheel alignment done - at no time was I advised of this when I went to pick up my car from the dealers, all they wanted was my money!

I have contacted an independant Subaru specialist who states that -

"I must say that’s quite shocking to hear someone could change your suspension and NOT wheel align it afterwards, that suggests a fundamental lack of mechanical knowledge?"

So this leaves me with a car that I cant use, and a huge bill to pay sort it out, on top of the money I already paid to bin subaru's original pants suspension!!!

I did pay on my credit card so have been looking into Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974, as well as what to do next with the trader in question BUT my question is, what do I do next??

Get the car fixed and try to claim back the bill - do I get an independant report done - where should I take the car for 4 wheel alignment??

I am around glos/avon/wilts area - any advice gratefully received!!!

assumption = the mother of all f**k ups! Did you ask for any camber adjustments, or tracking to be altered?

Im afraid assuming they would have done you some camber or tracking isnt asking them to do so, and personally, dont think you have a leg to stand on, as it sounds like, you've only asked them to fit your suspension.

Tyres last more than six months ?

That's a new one on me !

Assume = *** U Me !

Four new tyres plus a geometry set-up needed, bite the bullet and move on.

IMHO

Valuable lesson is go to a specialist ..... I don't thing you'll have any luck with your dealer,in 6 months allsorts could have happened to your geometry.

Go to Powerstation (where you should have gone first).

Please note, 95% of Subaru dealers are muppets, find a good independant.

I have new ASTs fitted, all alignment and cambers and castor set.
My car still goes through tyres like hell. Possibly only 20 laps if I'm lucky,
as dunx says Bite the bullit, if you want good mileage out of tyres by a fiesta my chum.
