Did the springs come fitted with the rubber sleeve that goes over the top/bottom of each spring. This stops some od the knocking?
Did you chop the bump stops down?
Have you secured the springs in the strut with plastic ties?
Did you refit the rubber mount that the springs seats into?

i did use the top rubber seat mount but not cable ties !

I have fitted loads of springs to cars and I generally take off what ever the springs are lowered by. I fitted Teins to my car last and I took off 35mm [ish] and have had no problems.
The Teins came with the rubber sleeve so I can't help with where to get some.
Loads of shrink tube on Ebay which may do the job.
