Default Coilovers or lowering springs

Hi everyone.
I have a 01 Bugeye WRX, i am looking at lowering it.
I would like to know if anyone could tell me the benefits of buying coilovers over a set of lowering springs?
Is it really worth it when a set of springs is around £200 and coilovers around £700?
I was looking at a set of Apex lowering springs or a set of BC coilovers.
Any opinions much appreciated.

if getting a lower look is most important then just get a cheap set of springs. if you want unbelievably amazing handling, and a completely different feel to the drive then get coilovers. Coilovers can be adjusted to different ride heights. i have AST coilovers and the damping hardness can be adjusted by turning ***** from behind the back seats and from under the engine bonnet, so you can soften or harden the ride and thus change the handling characteristics.... they are amazing. if money is not the issue, then get coilovers every time. in my opinion rather than say pay £150 on springs, £200 on anti roll bars and £200 on strut braces, just get a set of AST coilovers instead. but remember that you will have to have them set up properly and have a 4 wheel geometry alignment done when they are set up

springs alone will not change the car handling hugely. you'd be better off changing the anti roll bars instead.

Agree with most of the above, but the rear ARB is a must too (22mm for erratic (read, Joe Normal) driver, 24mm for smooth and progressive drivers). I had AST's and used to adjust them almost daily to suit the driving I'd be doing or the weather. Fantastic ! I've heard good reports about the BC's and for the money they are hard to fault.

I had lowering springs on, for the looks and looks only.
Now got coilovers on with geo set up, ALK, Anti roll bars front and rear, poli bushes,
If its just looks. springs
if its a bit of fast road use, BC are the best value for the cash.
if you want to beat them all, ASTs and the rest.
good look.
