Default Hawkeye Spec D ('06) - bumpy ride - help!

G'day,

My '06 Hawkeye (Spec D) with 49k on it has what I can only describe as a bumpy ride - it isn't bouncy as much as bumpy, if that makes sense.

Driving on the motorway and A roads is just plain uncomfortable - I'm wondering what might be the reason behind this and what I can do to improve it?

I've been told by other scooby enthusiasts that a new set of springs (Prodrive or H+R) would make a big difference but then had subaru mechanics tell me they wouldn't - so I'm at a loss...

Any advice/comments/suggestions appreciated!

Cheers

Leigh

Shocks aren't knocking, but will get them looked at. Tyres were re070's, as standard. I've recently put Toyo T1Rs on for a change to see how they fare.

I've had a ride in a couple of friend's cars recently (hawk, blob) both with H+R springs and the ride was measurably more comfy - so if the shocks are OK I'll look into that.

Toyos have very soft sidewalls so you may want to increase tyre pressures to 36F 34R.
Prodrive springs should improve ride quality.

Lol you want to come in my SpecD with the chassis locked up, it's like jogging on the spot.

Prodrive springs do make a marginal difference to bumpiness and you get less motorway warble at 70.

STi's are notorious for a jiggly ride, the degree to which people find this acceptable depends what you are used to.

Yeah that's the best description of the ride yet - jiggly - especially apt given my wife's complaint

Have ordered a set of H+R springs, having ridden in a hawk and blob with them on, it's chalk and cheese - set to be a huge improvement as long as the shocks are OK too
