Fettling handling on a 06 WRX Wagon?
After a couple of months with my first Scoob it's time to start fettling the handling as it's not great at changing direction - too much body roll. Maybe the STI would have been a better choice but the "practical" Wagon got me past the dog loving Missus
I can't see the wood for the trees in other posts as most state STI.
I'm looking for a 25-30mm drop for a better look but firming up the handling is more important. Will I need ARBs too or should I try just the springs to start with?

Tein coilovers, will firm it up for sure and will handle superbly - I cannot rate mine highly enough.
I have the rear ARB changed for a 24mm one but the coilovers on their own would transform the handling.

Thanks, but they are a bit more money than I wanted to spend on my first pop as I am planning a downpipe + map in very near future (who said a Scooby was a good idea????? )

If its the body roll your worried about I'd start with arbs I changed front and back on my blob it the change in cornering was remarkable but I'm going for some rein springs soon just to fill the arches as long as there is no Clarence issues as ive fitted a front splitter

Cheers chaps, I think I'll opt for the springs and ARBs along with the power mods to start with.
Looks like I'll be selling my soul as well as my bike to fund!

I have the Tein Super Strret coilovers on mine, with 24mm rear ARB, solid droplinks and anti lift kit on front , never driven better handling car and had a fair few.
Spring would be start but as other have said if not going for the coilovers you may get more from ARB and maybe anti lift kit.

My 07 WRX wagon is fitted with Stage 2 kit from Powerstation,
Eibach Springs
Whiteline Rear Adjustable Roll Bar
Anti-Lift Kit
Whiteline Front Adjustable Roll Bar
Gives a nice compromise between handling and ride - it certainly rides smoother than my previous Octy vrs on Weitec coilovers.

+1 for the powerstation stage 2 kit (which is pretty much the same as scooby world). Note that the stage 2 is the stage 1 plus lowering springs: the springs have less of an affect than the roll bars, anti-lift kit, and alignment. Getting the wheels aligned properly is probably the most important thing, the amount of tolerance away from ideal in the factory set up is shocking. The anti-lift kit helps turn in and putting power down on a bend, the roll bars allow you to dial out some of the understeer that's built in to make a more neutral car, albeit with a greater chance of oversteer

my opinoin is, if uve got money get tein monoflex with arbs and droplinks
or if budgets a bit tight go for eicbach springs as they are a prodrive replacement and arbs and droplinks
i wouldnt go for the s tech springs as they can be too hard to absorbe bumps on normal driving roads. u dont really need anti lift kit as all it does it stop the car from lifting up/down when acc/braking. ur car will be low already to cope with it.
antilift kit is good for cars with big power only
thats just my sugestion instead of waisting cash. but depends on what ur future plans is for the car

Now that's thrown me! So the s tech are less progressive than the Eibach? I don't really want to spend coilover money as I don't intend to go too far with the wagon following lots of ScoobyNet advice. My end game was going to be:
Stay with TD04 turbo, so that means no more than 290bhp max I guess? (This stops me putting the 2.5 at risk of meltdown)
Decat downpipe, filter and Engine_Mapper remap to get the most out of TD04,
Handling pack to reduce the roll as changing direction at speed can get a little loose
Lower to improve the look and help reduce the roll.
Next step would be to an STI.

ive heard a bit of diffrence with the s tech compared to eibachs the diffrence is the s techs stiffness can be too hard for ride comfort as the eicbachs are a prodrive option made very simlar to the prodrive. prodrive are the people that specialised in the subarus ride and comfort to the exact specfication for all roads. s tech are an aftermarket supplier competing with the market but have done very well with the coilovers especially the monoflexs.
either 2 will be ok but ive gone down the same route and opted for the eibachs because the s techs would be too firm and bumpy over uk roads. wanted an allrounder set up inc track days. so i got jdm shocks which is like stis but a bit better damping and eibach springs. s techs can lower ur car a bit too much aswell but it all depends on how u like too look n feel, no chance of 18s(arch rub)

The ride height on your Blob is exactly what I am after and I don't want 18s. I'll see if Scooby World will swap in the Eibachs as part of the stage 2 pack, if not it will be a long drive to Powerstation methinks...

As i said before depends on your budget,Scooby world kit is good for money i would say,if you will go in future on your wagon with coilovers,try drive some cars with coilovers,i drive before with Tein basic and they're hard for me,BC are good too for money,HSD HR they're not softest,in most view are firm,but this depends on setting,our setting is little bit firm

Cheers Jura, budget is tight so I am putting about a grand aside for handling and the ARBs seem a no-brainer. Kind of prices coilovers out of my reach... It doesn't help that I am mechanically retarded so I have to pay for labour
Have to say that's the sweetest bug-eye wagon I have seen!

tein basic and superstreet are too hard and bcs are even harder they dont absorbe the bumps good enough, give u neck and back ache
BUT the tein MONO FLEX are the best in my opinion they are ace on all roads and absorbe pot holes and bumps excellently but for about £1200-£1500 a set its worth it. u wont get all ur usual complaints and niggles.and u can get an in car elec adjustable damper remote.
everyone seems to go for bcs dont know why, must be because they are widley advertised and a lot of proffit to make on em when selling etc.
save a bit more money and buy monoflexes if any of u go down the route of coilovers.
monoflexs will do a better lap time round a track than them, if u try em all with same car n driver.

Coilovers are great,but still think with some you will just slam car and nothing more and you will not gain nothing,in most cases you will loose.
Really try drive with some your friends cars with Coilovers and you will see if its this for you,like we are tried few before we are bought our one..
Good luck with your project and really go with few steps at start,not like we are done with big step and now driving wagon with 452bhp(before has been something around est.350bhp) its something is just mind blowing

Now with K-sport 8pots 356mm and rear K-sport 6pots 330mm is braking just astonishing,on this setup i would agree with combination of pads and disc

if uve got big discs and good pads the 4 pots are quite good. and standard discs with brembos there not much diffrence. the 4 pot caliper are reasonably good.

like i said depends on disc and pad combination.
a lot of people dislike the 4 pots, but because they havent upgaded the combo.
i was gonna get brembos but decided not to cos the set up i have is just as adaqet. and i wouldnt see much diffrence plus more weight with brembos.
