SIDC National Day
#1
beofre i start this is merely a point, not an arguement and i don't want it to be taken the wrong way, ok.
Firstly the National day be organised for july 7 what a superb idea, if its half as good as all the usual sidc events it will be excellant and i can't wait for it. Reading the little bit in true grip, i had one little hesitancy "Other japanese car clubs" If this is organised by sidc for sidc members and other scooby owners, wouldn't it be nice to keep it as Subaru only. As i say it won't bother me in the slightest but i would just like to know what others think about having other makes of cars at a subaru national day. Please take this the right way, a mere question.
Cant wait for the 7th july, would be interested to hear what others think

I can see your point re "show cars", it's a Subaru National day afterall, surely you're not saying " don't let other makes come and look" are you? ( loosely speaking).
I have a Fiesta but I'd like to come along for a look

Yep, the one bad thing about this event is the date - probably the biggest single motorsport event in the UK apart from the Rally of Britain. Gutted I won't be able to attend Donington, but Silverstone beckons !

Just one point that must be made, this was arranged by the SIDC, not all SIDC members are still Scoob owners so it should still be open for current SIDC members whether they still own a Subaru or not. I believe there was a discussion at last years SIDC AGM regarding this in reference to track days and the rules (I believe) remained the same, its the current membership and not the ownership of a Subaru that counts.
I think with the slightly poorer turn out at this years SIDC track days it was an important choice to include owners of marques that had paid their membership, even if they were previously Subaru oners or not.
My 2 pence. I will be there 7th July.

How utterly selfish of you.
I bet half of you don't even realise that a majority of track days wouldn't be possible if it wasn't for alternative clubs being invited, SIDC just wouldn't be able to fill the quotas.
Regardless, there's a very good chance that we won't be allowed on the SIDC stand, which would be reserved for the 'mighty' Subaru Impreza. This I am happy with, but to reserve the whole event to Subarus only?
Open your eyes folks, there's a big wide world out there.

I know of people that have tried to get on to SIDC track days that have been "fully booked". To find later that various "other" makes had been on the day annoyed them somewhat. I don't though, have a problem that where there is a need make up numbers, other makes are invited.

FWIW all you self righteous Scoob owners, the last three SIDC trackdays I have attended have been undersubscribed even with *guests*, so where are all these poor people denied track entry ??

Can I come and park with you guys, or will I be barred ??
I could come in the Matiz I suppose but I'd have to leave at about 0300 to get there on time.

Yes Phil that must have been annoying, but places are offered to Scoob owning SIDC members first, then the rest of us that used to own the marque then finally if the numbers simply aren't cost effective enough its offered out to other car clubs which have close relationships to the SIDC.
So you were either notified late or decided to attend after the places had been offered to another car club.
Looks like this is going to be a major topic at this years AGM then.

Here we go again....
As has already been mentioned, the last few track events were UNDERSUBSCRIBED, so anyone saying they missed out to non-Scoobs is talking tosh.
We are inviting other Jap Car Clubs to the day simply to make it more interesting for everyone. Two of these in particular, the EVO's and Skylines have offered good support to the club on recent events and will be allowed participation in the main sessions.
As far as track time is concerned, then of course priority is given to SIDC members. There are two shorter sessions aimed at other guests and members not wanting full sessions.
We are aware that it's British GP weekend but if you knew how hard it was to secure any weekend at Donno in the summer you'd understand.
Besides, F1 is poo!
I suggest you read the new thread for more info.
