Default Llandow track day - brilliant day, not withought a few issues

So today I attended my first track day at llandow which was an absolute blast, thoroughly enjoyed finding the limits of the car in a safe legal environment, saying that an mx5 got written off, driver ok though,

It was the first time I could properly test out the new Meister-r coilovers and godspeed brakes which both were faultless, absolutely superb, the brakes were unbelievable, the only criticism was maybe the setup of the coilovers, the company have set the rears really low and there was a lot of arch scraping so unsure wether to roll the arches or raise the height!

The tyres are absolutely shot especially the front left so the car is parked up now until I find somewhere selling good cheap tyres,

indigo gt had an evo there, heavily modded, looked like a hell of machine, didn't seem to get driven that hard and got put back on the trailer after the first session so didn't get chance to chat to them, wondered what happened,

My biggest problem was after my last blast the engine light came on, it won't disappear now but the car drives fine, it's recently had another map tweek so not really sure what it could be, it's a blob sti running a safe 345/335 bhp/lb ft, will check again later tonight but pretty sure it will still be there, will have to get it looked at once new tyre are fitted,

Overall a great experience which I hope to do again, just a shame at the end with the engine light but hey ho!!!

If you have a smartphone you can pick up a cheap OBD2 reader from ebay to read your fault code. It links to your phone and is quite useful to keep in the car and in many cases will save you having to pay for a diagnostic.

Engine management light no more, turned the car over this morning to give it a clean and the light has disappeared, can only assume it was because the engine was hot because all fluid levels etc are ok,

Was great fun and was shattering, a very moist helmet by the end of the day!!

I have an OBD reader, you can still read historic codes to find out what it was.

For track tyres, you cant go wromg with A048's. Loads of grip and only get better with heat.

Cheers for that will have a look at them, I thought the odb readers just scanned for current faults, didn't realise they could scan for previous problems with hrs engine management light off!

Could be the front lambda sensor. Mine would only throw the light on when the car was pushed hard. Well worth getting even a cheap reader off ebay. Think I paid 12 quid for mine and it's come in real handy

They will give you all historic faults as well as real time data on pretty much everything the ECU is picking up. Its quite interesting just to plug in and run with when out on a run as you can select a variety of clocks and read outs so you can monitor specific things the normal dials dont tell you as you drive.

I think ita pretty cool anyway ha ha.

Yes mate historic faults too. It's always good to know what went wrong to either correct the problem or change the faulty items.

Out of interest, I've been looking at track days. Not because I want to race but just get more of a feel for the car and bike also. I only live up in Brecon and looked at llandow as a possibility. Was looking around the £90 mark for the day...... Assuming this was what you done?? Mind if I p.m a few questions over to you? Thanks max
