battery swop
My car seems to a a battery problem,it needs a power pack to start it if its not used for a few days but once started and run for a few miles it seems to start ok.Ive decided that i will buy a new battery as a starting point and see if that makes a difference as the present battery could have been on the car since new more than nine years so I was wondering if when I get the battery is it just a straight forward swap or should I have to reset anything.
Thanks for any guidance.

Apart from the internal clock, your radio setting and trip meters then nothing is effected.

I spent quite some time recently running through numerous diagnostic checks on my blob that I thought had a battery/alternator fault. If you can get a voltmeter, check the voltage between the alternator and the battery when the engine is running, it should be 14 ish.
Switch the engine off and the voltage across the terminals on the battery (- and +) should be just under 12v. Then check before you start it in the morning, if the battery voltage is low then it is fubar'd or you have an earthing fault.
I am free Saturday afternoon if your about, I think you are round the corner from me, I am in Llandaff.
