Default Big Brakes advice needed

Hi all,
Right, I've got some money together and I needed to get bigger discs and calipers to go behind my 18" wheel on a MY95 classic.

The main question is how big a disc can I put behind these wheels?

So, any advice and tips please post.

Chris

I bought the comp b-4 brake kit from Peter Lloyd Rallying. Awesome brakes, only draw back is the calipers are a bit noisy as they have floating pads and tend to rattle a bit when going down a bumpy road and not braking. The kit comprises of big 4 pot calipers, 330mm discs, alloy bells, goodridge s/s braided brake hoses and a set of fast road pads. This cost £840 and is a hell of a difference to the standard 2 pots, wich to be honest had the same affect as opening the door and putting your foot on the road to slow u down! Hope this helps
Taylor.

There's a set of newage gold brembo in the for sale section with discs and pads for £500. They are striaght bolt on and have 330mm discs. They are a massive improvement over the Subaru 4 pots (although i guess u have 2 pots)

If you do go for them i'd try and knock the price down a bit i only paid £425 for mine.

Pic of mine with 18's:

Cheers guys. I've had a look at the Godspeed site and I'm thinking about the 355mm discs. But has anybody fitted these under 18" wheel?

355mm will fit behind 18"'s but this is not the biggest problem, You need to check whether they fit over the calipers, My old wheels (17") wouldn't fit over standard 4 pots let alone brembo's as the calipers are thicker and the can catch the inside of the spokes.

Worth checking at the next meet as to whether your wheels will fit over bigger calipers, You can try them on mine if you like

This is the problem i almost had with my 17" BK's, about 3mm clearence with the spokes...as Danny boy says try them out at a meet first

hi there don't know if i am right but i don't think you can put 4 pots or any larger brakes with the wheels you have, i think you have the same as me 18" ultralights and i was told at scooby world when i bought them,so instead i fitted black diamond combI's to the front and rear with preditor pads and they work awsome with no brake fad and lots of bite, quite the opposite to my standard one's, hope this helps

Brembos wont fit under my ultralites either with out a spacer.
One of the problems you need to think about when buying wheels is any future brake upgrade
If you have 4 pots then go for a disc, pad and hose upgrade that will improve things for sure.

Godspeed make there discs with more offset than anyone else , so this gives more room for the spokes , I think there 355mm kit fits under all 18's , go and see him to be sure as he will measure the room you got and tell you what will fit.
