Hey Guys,

Looking to pick your brains on this one as its daft as ive lived in Newport all my life.

I was reading with interest my copy of "Newport Matters" (a local government publication for those not from the area) and was interested to hear how the local government is celebrating a huge reduction in road deaths in the city, with a combination of sleeping policeman and Newports 3 fixed speed camera's.

Dont get me wrong, a highly worthy cause, if carried out using the 2 most hated methods, esp the sleeping policeman (dont get me started on suspension damage caused by those things!!)

Anyway this got me thinking, i know where 2 fixed cameras are in Newport - Cardiff Rd, by Tesco's and Heidenhiem Drive, just under the railway bridge, but i cant think where the third of Newports fixed speed camera's is - any of you guys know??

Is the road by the main Bus Station Heidenhiem Drive ?

Yes, you got it, by the bus station when you come off the 50 under the bridge - speed cam - where is Newports third??

If i remember rightly you can actually see a list of all cameras that are in deployment currently not only permenant but mobile positions

According to this site the three newport positions are

A48 Chepstow rd, Near Magor Rd langstone

A4043 Kingsway, Leisure centre to sainsburies on slip

B4237 Cardiff Rd, Near audrey haines close

Yes, the one on the A48 has only recently been repaired. It was damaged last year. I was informed, it had been fire bombed by anti-Gatso campaigners, I have no idea if this is correct?

Not even sure if the A48 one is even on half of the time as my detector hasnt beeped the last couple of times I've driven passed it. The other 2 in Newport get beeps in plenty of time !

I live in Newport & have now discovered that there's a sneeky camera cop that sits in the turn-in by the Man-of-Gwent pub on Chepstow Road on a regular basis so watch out all you local scoob drivers !!
