A few years ago I did a palmer racing day at bruntingthorpe, out of all the cars we drove: Cateram 7, Merc SLK and CLK, Ford single seater, Golf VR6's and lotus elise's.
The lotus was by far the most fun to drive, quick and handled really well but the ride was close to bone shaking, there is no room in them,no wireless (it's an option) no storage and the roof is close to that of bin bag. The worse bit was getting in and out, because you have to stand on the seat and slide yourself down, not to bad providing your shoes are clean!!!!
I have to say I perfer the scoob anyday
But as all know it's only going to be kev's weekend toy/car, so go for it fella.
If it was my money I'd be looking at boxter.
Ps: looking forward to a ride kev

I've amemded the post so peeps know whats sold . Thanks Guys
Sorry wont fit a classic.
Yep Its an Elise series 2
Thanks for the servicing tip Ian
Dan the boxter is a great car but for the money i would have been looking at one with highish miles and an older model so that ruled it out.
Series 2 elise is a bit easier to get in and out of, not so bone shaking and has a c/d
£120 a year road tax and 40 mpg also helps.
Having a lot of fun while staying within legalish speed limits was also a factor with my job a ban is a big no no

Hi Kev,
What condition are the mats in? If they're 'as new' or unmarked/worn, I'll have then (£20?)![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
p.s. I like the Elise, good choice - although I'd be looking seriously at a VX220 Turbo as another option......

well bloody hell i go for a drive up to scotland for a day or 2 and come back and you all selling up or thinking about it(merthyr to Edinburgh in 5hrs)
good times bad times you cut your cloth accordingly as you well know fella
as you would know as well as me kev it more than a car its a lifestyle .
but what always does my head in when you guys spend (only a personal view) far to much money on moding then after all that time and hard earned money you go and sell up then buy somthing that needs modding again
1.buy somthing thats already got the stuff on them they are about
2.buy a honda or rover back on the rollercoaster cos it will need it
but whatever you choose kev it is whats the best for you and at anytime that you need a lift to any of the shows you and si are always welcome to have a lift with me and don't you forget it ok fella

Sorry to hear Kev.
Although I nearly bought a VX220 instead of the WRX I just couldn't stand having to find two car spaces to get in and out of and doing a limbo dance. Although if it is only for the weekends no bother. It was a bit more practical than the MR2 in terms of storage (more than a toothbrush) but the MR2 was a much better day to day car with the same engine and an easy roof.
VX220 turbo or NA if you can find a good one. Elise is just not there from the research I did. I can see what you mean about it being a Vauxhall. Lotus has the prestige badge Vauxhall have put more R&D into the later cars than Lotus could afford to do. Until you get to the Exige that is.
BTTT for a great car.
