If it's a UK should be a VF35 and yes it should fit a classic, but check in technical as i'm no expert.

Searched and found this.

The VF34 i think is rated to about 350bhp, it is a roller-bearing turbo and was used on the JDM STi's, STi type UK use a VF35 which are almost identical apart the bearings used.

VF34 came on the V7 STI RA,
STI 8's have a VF35 which is basically a VF30 with a smaller exhaust housing giving quicker spool up but less top end.

The VF30 + VF35 have thrust bearings and the VF34 is a roller bearing version of the VF30

They are all direct bolt on to classic's

Hope that helps BTW i have a VF34 on my car.

In 4th gear i get 1 bar of boost by about 3000rpm, probably slightly laggier than it could be because of the FMIC.
VF35's are supposed to have slightly quicker spool up.

yeap definatly a worth while upgrade, the limit of the turbo is around 330bhp, realisticaly you should get somewhere over 300bhp.
It will be slightly slower spolling than your TD04 but will pull all the way through the rev range and not run out of puff at about 5500rpm like the TD04 does.

Mine made 312bhp, which isn't great compared to what most people get with VF34's should get 330-350 really.

Go For It

2.5 bottom end, Ported STI 5/6 heads, and a TD06 / Garret turbo, should make a good drivable 440bhp car. Not that i'm planning anything

No mate ECUtek remapping is for 99 on.
There are lots of ECU's you can chose from Apexi FC seems to be the most popular probably becuase it's relatively cheap.

There's also GEMS, MOTEC, LINK etc

SIGMA ecu's seem to be getting very good reviews at the moment and there is a Group Buy running on them at the mo:
https://www.scoobynet.com/group-buys...sigma-ecu.html
Think i might try one of these if i were in your position.

Can't find the thread i was reading the other day about them but, have a read of this:

mmm, Well one will be a td04 which is what you already have the other will be a IHI turbo which is what you are after!!!!! strange it doesn't mention STI in any of his advert!!!

you might be in luck, the other item he sold was a STI manifold

Hope it's an STI turbo mate, if it is you've had a bargin, if not then it's not bargin coz you can't give TD04's away.

As Danny said he has previously sold an STI 8 Inlet Manifold and he did mention "STI" in the Ad for that either.

Fingers Crossed.

Not meaning wind you up scudy, but looking at the photo my guess is it's a TD04 and I've just sold a TD05 for 120 pounds. So a little pricey as well for a TD04, if it was IHI vf35 it would of fetched 300 pounds. Personally the spool up of a TD04 is best your going to find and with the right supporting mods a realistic 300 - 320 Bhp is acheivable but there will be little puf left at higher revs.

I sold my TD04 for £50 thats about all you will get for one, if your going to change your turbo then I would go for a vf 34/35 or 28 all 3 have been used sucessfully loads of times and will make you 300/320 with a remap and decat.
All IMO

I bought a VF34 off here a couple of years ago, awesome turbo, reduced the lag on my MY00 UK Turbo and was very quick with it. I paid £550 and it was brand new then. Go for it

I spoke to the guy today and he said it came of a STi,but now im confused is there any way from the picture that you can tell what turbo it is ?

He reckons it came of the same car as the inlet manifold he sold.

You need a pic from a different angle to see the stamping, Should have IHI on the housing, like this:

http://www.zandengrond.nl/VF-35%20Turbo.jpg

Can't really tell anything from the pic he put in the ad, but if it came off the same car as the manifold chances are it is a VF35 and you've had a real bargin.

Tell me about it.

Dean the picture you posted i noticed with the acuator the pipe comes out from the centre which is the same as the picture on the ebay listing but with pictures of the TD04 its comes out of the side of the acuator not the centre.
