Car park shenanigans
Got sent out on a mission form the Boss today to pick up the latest Argos catalogue (i know life is sooo exciting)
I went to the new one on Newport Road and parked the car up in a space just big enough for mine if you know what i mean. In literately less than a minute i was back out the store and noticed a silver Audi backing out of the 'space' next to mine in what looked like a failed parking a attempt.
As i got to my car a guy queuing to get out asked if it was my car as the Audi had clipped the wing - Sure enough there was a scratch on the rear bumper.
By this point the car is off toward the other side of the car park so i took of after him carrying my shiny new catalogues!
Once i caught up with him and got him to pull over (by having stand in front of his car) i got the usual 'i didn't touch it' lines.
Sure enough on his car there was WR blue paint - when i asked him what it was doing there he said it had been there ages!
So off we popped to look at mine with nice silver go faster stripes attached. Sure enough the guy still denied hitting it and by this point the guy who had tipped me off had driven off
Eventually the old women turned up (passenger in the other car) and said to me the damage on my car was rust and had been there ages!!
To make matters worse a women returning to her car warned the other 2 that there are people trying on car park insurance claims and i was probably one of them
By this point i was a nats chuff away from kicking off so told him i wanted insurance details - turns out its a company car so he gave me the company address and number (who i have checked out since) and will be calling first thing in the morning. All i can really do is hope they play fair but I'm not holding out too much hope.
The damage isn't that bad (presents exhibit A):

Either well i'm sure i can be fixed for under £100.
The question is i was booked in as part of Kev's detailing group buy on Thursday. Is it wise to wait until this is sorted?
Also is this a case for a paint shop or could one of those mobile units help?

A mobile would sort that out and TBH a lot of that might come out so no real reason not to have your detailing done.
Anyway you can always pop over on the next one and just get that last bit done if you do get it repainted.
If you get lucky with his insurance just as well have the whole bumber done if they are paying

when you ring the company tell them that you have a few witnesses come up to you as the guy drove off and if they dont pay-up/give insurance details that you will be ringing the old bill as he failed to stop at the scene....

mate,
if your going this crazy over a guy hitting your car, why are you considering to get a guy in a van to come to you and paint it in the cold????
take it to a propper body shop, get them to paint the full rear bumper, not blending it in, smart repairs are all very good for sales men, as the car looks good when its sold, but the one pac air dry products they use are ****e,
also leave out the detailing as if any silicone wax's or dressing are used you'll have a bad time in the bodyshop, we painters hate silicone.
and it shouldn't cost more than £100

Thanks for the advice - from what i've been told 'certain' mobile units are actually very good. The guy i have spoken to has done work for a number of guys i know and uses the Dupoint (?) system. Each job has been tip-top.
I've checked with with my proper paint shop sprayer who advised me to use him for this!

I must applaud your calmness throughout the whole ordeal. This happened to me 2 years ago and again once they hit my car then drove off to find another parking space.
I was not interested in knowing his insurance details as he only clipped my wheel. I marched him over to a nearby cash machine and he kindly made a donation of £30 to cover refurbishment.
He could have said no which would have meant me kicking the side of his car in but I think he could read my body language at the time.
