Gutted, heard the news on Five live at 9.30 this morning
All the talk has been about swrt running a 3 car team next year but it looks like a combination of the credit crunch, new rules for 2010 and the fact that the car still needs a lot of development has taken its toll.

Looking ahead, 2010 will see the introduction of new World Rally Championship technical regulations, which provide Prodrive with an opportunity to prepare for re-entering the championship with a new team and build on its 24 years of World Rally Championship experience and success.
From the SWRT Site, what the **** does this mean? Will Prodrive go with a different team or manufacturer?
What about PWRC and Group N

I am gutted by this news, Subaru has been synonamous with rallying since the 90's, the WRC without Subaru is like an omlette made without eggs
A sad day for all WRC competitors and fans
How can they call it a world championship with only two manufacturers?

Looking at it logically this is Subaru and not Prodrive making the decision... I was watching a report on the business news yesterday regarding the troubles with the Japanese financial system, the Yen's in freefall by the look of things so this must have hit Fuji Heavy Industries quite hard and possibly made them make an instant decision on the next 12 months. I know the rules are changing but I think the economy is the major factor in this.
So maybe if the right package or set up came along Prodrive could still be very active with the Impreza but not from a factory car point of view.

Its all a bit of a shame, but looking on the bright side, it may leave more opportunity for private runners to get involved. It would be good to see more variety in the cars taking part like back in the Lombard RAC days. Everything was on the stages from works cars down to a Fiat 500, classic to watch!
