SWS Mountain Bike Club??
I've been doing mountain biking for many years, and like the scoob it's able to offer plenty of thrills and spills The last couple of weeks I've managed to talk Mark (MP24) and Ryan (Ryan33HKS) into coming out on a bike ride with me. They have since both bought new bikes and are now going out as often as they can.
So I have come up with an idea Shall we start up a South Wales Scoobies Mountain Bike club??
Would anyone be interested in coming out for a monthly little spin around the mountains of Wales??
Its just an Idea at the minute and any suggestions are welcome.
I have been a mountain bike guide/instructor for the last 4 years. Perhaps we could also organise a beginners group for training and guidance??
Also I will talk to my mate who owns a Bike Shop, and see if I can get SWS discount
Please let me know if you have any thoughts or are interested.

Have you got somewhere flat in mind ? only my legs are 42 years old and have not peddled anywhere for at least the last 20 years I would possibly need a lift home as well
In seriousness Daz I could do with some exercise and I'll give it some thought, it's a good idea for sure

I've had my bike up for sale for the last couple of months, but thinking of keeping it now, sure i will use it more in the summer.
Need to get fit before i try to go on any serious rides again.

SSS - Well theres some great cycle tracks around, which would be great for getting back into the swing of things.
Dean - Don't sell your bike!! you'l regret it. I'm not thinking anything mad, just a hour out of the house for a start. Summer coming, Shorts and T Shirt possibly
VC - Can find u some Great Downhills!! *** break not a problem, as many breaks as you like Just remember, to go down u have to go up

I used to cross country race MTB's quite a few years ago when I was a lot younger and a lot thinner I still have my trick Ozone Oxygen hard tail hung in the garage collecting dust!
I used to reckon around 100 hrs of riding to get a basic level of fitness its great fun once you have attained this.
I still have my SPUDS on the bike and I'm happy to let anyone have a go as long as I can video
Great idea Daz but I think some hours back in the flight would be in order

Kev - Give the beast a wipe down and a bit of oil. Jobs done SPD's are the way forward, good laugh when some1 has a go for the first time
My first road ride with a set on, i Fell like a sack of spuds at a set of traffic lights. In front of a queue of traffic They had a laugh anyway!!
Mat - At the minute this ride is all in planning, i want to have an idea of how many would be interested. However if your based around the Bridgend area there are a few of us that go out for a ride most weekends. Your more than welcome to come and join us.
The SWS ride would be more of a monthly thing where a group of us can go out and have a chat and a good laugh going down the hills. Cafe at the finish for a cooked Breaky
Ryan - You know it makes sense
Thanks for all the feedback so far

I bought a limited edition Bianchi mountain bike through work in October, it has not been out of the house yet but I suppose I really should try and get some use out of it. Perhaps after the brilliant weather we are having is out of the way I might be inclined to start using it, on flat tracks of course.

I could be up for this.
Back in the summer i got in shape for a Brecon to Cardiff Taff Trail run for Ty Hafan but as there was a **** up with the organiser in our group we missed out on the sign up deadline. I will 100% be doing it this year so the practice could do me good
Here is a link to this years run, it could be something to plan for possibly.

I'm definately in. I bought a Specialized hard tail about a year ago and went to Afan a good few times before the weather turned last year, however I'm now feeling the effects of a Winter without exercise and a Christmas of excess, so could do with getting back into it.
I normally go out with some lads from work who I'm sure would come along too. We're doing the Marin Rough Ride in June and I expect I'll suffer major heart issues or even sudden death, if I don't get some prep in beforehand
Great idea
