Default Resetting Newage ECU

Is there anywhere local to Cardiff that can do this at non-dealer prices?

I'm not 100% sure but I think you can do this by disconnecting the battery for a little while, maybe an hour or so have you a fault code your trying to clear or something ?

No just on way to work this morning i put in 97 fuel, wanted to reset it to help it advance the timing. Have read on the newage its a bit slow with regards to learning after "bad" fuel so this helps speed it up.

Im think you may be right about the battery - may be more than an hour though. When my battery died it was left a long time and it reset the ecu then. So may d/c and leave overnight and see what happens, i know the newage ecu's have their own power so takes much longer than classics to clear the rom memory.

I believe disconnecting the battery only resets the advance multiplier table (learning). To do a full reset you'd need the soft/hardware.

Yeah i think the battery has to be off for a longer period of time - at least overnight to reset the ecu rom memory. People also say when battery d/c you press the brake pedal to clear the rom memory? its meant to drain remaining power used to store the ecu memory.

All i know is when battery died and car was off road for a few days with no battery - the whole car was flat, radio stations etc etc. When back up and running it ran a bit poorly for a bit which i later discovered was the learning process after an ecu reset.

Recently i removed the battery to replace spark plugs - was off for 2hrs and when reconnected i didnt lose any radio stations etc so no reset done.

Ill try the overnight thing and go from there - even if it does just reset the multiplier table that might be enough. But for reference is there somewhere around here that can do the reset via software apart from dealer? Who tbh i wouldnt trust to do it anyway

You could always just put a bottle of octane booster to treat the tank of 97 ron.

I put £10 in, have filled her up with v-power for rest of tank this evening though.

Have d/c battery and leaving overnight so hopefully it will learn a bit tomorrow. Just seemed best option to me rather than it slowly learning over a few tanks full.

IIRC you'd need to out around 3 full tanks of 97 fuel (without remapping it) in for the ECU to relearn so £10 wont make any difference at all!!
