Default Insurance Renewal Quote

Hi, just had my insurance renewal quote from the company with a parrot on the sailors shoulder and they have jumped the price up quite a bit on last year. They have hiked the price over £120 (£683 compared to £565 last year) over what I paid last year, credit crunch I suppose they will say when I ring them.

What insurance company do you use or do you go to a specialist broker? I have been to confused.com and found quite a few quotes chjeaper than I paid last year but the excess amount on some quotes are in excess of £500.

Which insurance company or broker do you use?

Do you have a contact number for Keith Michaels?

Just went and found a quote for £429, fully comprehensive, protected NCB and an excess of £250, I was quite happy with that but I will keep on looking for the best policy.

I will also ring Admiral tomorrow and tell them to sharpen their pencil or use it on the parrot

Gary was nearly £300 cheaper for me over A Plan last year and I could get rid of the tracker. I wouldn't really want the car back if it was ever stolen.

Plus car is insured to it's modded value not just current market value, Which I think A plan don't, Ask DaOne who's having trouble with a claim through A plan.

Cheapest is not always better!!!! but in my case they were cheaper and offered the best service, I shall be renewing

Plus Keith Michaels offer track day insurance for only £60 with the policy

TESCO's are not good at paying up. They don't do imports either, have a look in the Insurance thread.

Had good deals with A-Plan and KM. Currently with KM and the Foggy change only cost the alteration fee.

Important and valid point, all mods declared on a like for like basis so FULL cover no need to panic if unfortunately you need to claim.

Gary Molson is also a top bloke and gives fantastic and very efficient customer service which is rare these days

Gary is also an Impreza driver himself so understands the beast within us all

Mine is due in a few weeks and i called Gary Moulson on Tuesday and my policy is going up by £25 to £525. That is fully comp with all mods declared and covered like for like. I havnt tried A-Plan yet and Gary has said he will trawl through some other companies to try to find a better deal but im not holding my breath. I did ask why there was a rise in the policy and he said that a certain company, that he could not name, took on £3 million is Subaru insurance premiums and paid out £10 million in claims which in turn has frightened all policy providers, i dont know how accurate that is but it would be a reason along with the credit crunch and insurance companies dont need an excuse to charge us more for our policy! He said even his own policy has also gone up this year.

Spoke to Gary earlier at Keith Michaels and he quoted me £500 with £350 excess with notified alterations and I can modify the car within reason with no increase in the policy cost.

I have also had a quote from A Plan and they were only slightly more expensive at £509 with a £300 excess and again more or less as many modifications as I can throw at the car.

Both policies were for two named drivers, 11+ years NCB with protection, up to 5000 miles per year and with a 4 year old speeding conviction on my record.

They are the same company thats why the quoted the same, I used to be with them, they are aweful if you ever have to make a claim!!!!

They also charge 10% of the policy per mod, They charged me 10% for a back box and another 10% for different wheels!!! would never go with them again

It's the blinking delinquent lambs you need to be wary off, they are always TWOC'ing cars and doing RAM raids

I have decided to take out my new insurance with Gary @ Keith Michaels, a really helpful bloke who could not do enough to help
