I thought that I'd share my insurance experiences with you, following my renewal notice advising that my insurance is up on 10th May.
1. A-Plan, who have insured me through Groupama for the past 4 or 5 years, wanted £780, excluding protected NCD (I now have 4 years NCD) or legal cover but including like-for-like parts replacement for a Jap import.
2. I rang them to see if they could better the price and they came back with £789 with protected NCD or £719 without, insured with Groupama.
3. I also rang Keith Michaels to see what they could do and they came in with an initial quote of £625. He also said to phone him back if A-Plan beat this.
4. Having been insured with A-Plan for many years I felt it only fair to give them the opportunity to match or beat the offer. They called me back later to say that Groupama wouldn't insure me for that but that they'd gone to QBE, a grey import and performance car specialist and they'd match the £625 but include protected NCD, legal protection and like-for-like parts.
5. I went back to Keith Michaels and he confirmed they were also talking to QBE, he phoned them and came back on the line to say they'd match the policy but do it for £575.
Hats off to both companies but I snapped the hand off of Keith Michaels because it's a hell of a deal on a Spec C IMO and a saving of over £200 from my original renewal quote. In fact I think I've paid the same for the Spec C that I paid for the WRX last year, perhaps even a bit less.![Notworthy](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/notworthy.gif)
For info, both insurers know that I'm a member of SN, which helped the quotes a bit, AFAIK.

Did you speak to Gary from Keith Michaels?
When it was time for my renewal I spoke to both A Plan and Keith Michaels and to be honest Keith Michaels were fractionally more expensive by £9 but I decided to go with them anyway.
The reason is that Gary was very helpfull despite being hard to get hold of and he is of course a fellow SN member. ![Thumb](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif)
On my humble 2006 UK WRX with all current modifications declared and future ones also included it as well worked out at £509 if I remember with protected NCB which was £270 cheaper than my then current insurer
, just goes to show shop around and you can always save.

It's always worth shopping around, I just recently renewed with Keith Michaels (QBE). Found them to be be cheaper.
Just one thing, Why Didn't A plan offer the cheaper policy with QBE in the first place!!!!!

Yes it was Gary who I dealt with.
Don't know about A-Plan, to be honest I was reluctant to leave them because I've been insured with them for so long and every year they manage to beat other quotes that I've had. However in the end I fancied a change and I got more confidence from keith Michaels because they went straight in with QBE - maybe groupama is a preferred underwriter for A-Plan who they try to use where possible.![Ponder2](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/ponder2.gif)
Can't fault A-Plan though, I had my 205 GTi insured with them about 10 years ago as well. (I loved that car!

I've just signed up with A-plan myself, but like yourself I had to go between Kieth Michaels and A-Plan to see who would become the cheapest.
For me A-plan came top, though like you said both guys James & Rob @ A-plan and Gary @ keith michaels were both knowledgable of Impreza's and members of scoobynet.

Hi Guys, just read a thread on SIDC about Keith Michaels Insurance and the Vehicle Recovery option, apparently he had to shell out £75 for a full lift to home as it only covered repairs at the roadside - the author stated he was "lucky" only 20 miles from home, otherwise would have cost alot more, check you got "Full Lift" included, in case the worse happens......HTH
