Default Modified snorkels and delete mods?

Hey Guys

It seems you can get a modified snorkel for new age onwards(basicly the big box attached to the snorkel is removed) but nowt for a classic apart from induction kits.

I was wondering if any of you guys who had done the snorkel delete had attempted to modify the snorkel itself or run direct cold feeds to the airbox?
I noticed with my classic turbo 2000 that when I took the snorkel off I had more noise and whoossh from the recirc dumpvalve but the downside was a bit of lag.

I have had a go with mine to see if I could keep my std snorkel fittings to keep as stock as possible but better air flow and saving a bit of weight and gain a bit of noise.

heres a few pics will test it out on the car tomorrow.

Has anyone done anything like this and what did you find?
Opinions please guys?

I took the car for a drive today after fitting it back on and the car drover much better than std and much better than nothing there at all.
Felt more responsive less noise but a lil bit less weight subaru should have done this from factory this is by far the best mod I have done to my car.

Well when I just left the snorkel off it felt laggy, But it had a good sound and benefit of lil less weight but when I put this mod on it just seemed to have more pull no lag and has a bit less weight.

It feels better on boost aswell drivability wise and its using what subaru intended so basicly now its exactly the same as whats available for the later models at not even a quater of the price.
Only not as pretty but seeing as its hidden in the wing nobody is gonna see it.

cost me £4.29 for some 60mm diameter duct pipe and £1.99 for a hacksaw job done.

SubaruReview.com, GPmoto Silencer Delete Elbow Review

its just a big resonator in the wing that feeds air to the airbox its very big and worthless removing it gives you more noise not really any more performance like other mods but by doing this mod you are saving a little on weigh and a bit better air flow than stock and much better than just nothing there as it would be a bit laggy from what I have found on my car.

As a mod for price value goes it seems the best value mod you can do as it costs less than £10 uses stock fittings and does a better job than nothing at all and the stock item

Thanks for the info Mate - I presume it's for the standard airbox and would not benefit an Induction Kit

That is pretty cool I'm thinking of buying a spare headlight and putting some ducting through that straight to the air filter

That sounds great Mate is that something you could leave in all the time or just for track use

Presumably you have to cut through the lens cover to get the pipe in
