Does Anyone happen to know the laws on towing these days,I need to move my car litterally around the corner from where it is parked about the length of a football pitch. IE does it need to be taxed mot'd and insured to be towed on a public highway, same as it does to be driven on a public highway.
Legally you need for the vehicle to be taxed, insured and tested if you are going to even tow it on the public highway, you could trailer it in which case it would not need any of the above.
Or if you know somebody that can 'lend' you a set of trade plates you could use them.
No you are fine to tow as long as the tow car is legal and the driver in the rowed car is legal to do so. Highway code confirmed this.
Which part of the highway code Dylan?
I thought that you can only transport either by driving or towing any vehicle if it has a pre-arranged VOSA test appointment, even then you must have insurance and it must allow you to use the vehicle whilst it is uninsured or your insurance will be invalid as well.
Plus as you say Dylan the towing vehicle must be able to tow the weight of the car plus any towing vehicle must also have insurance to be able do so.
Although if it's only going about 100 yards i cant see much trouble
thought of that, but libanus road in an incline, and with all the snow we have had tonight, wont get much traction with my trainers(anyone now anyone, that has an AWD drive car on here by any chance....
