Default New Track Toy

Well after selling my previous pug 205 at which I then bought the scoob, I sought of made the wrong decision in selling the pug.

So I've decided to get another pug as it was so much fun that I've missed.

Plans are to have it ready for March but the downside of this is that I need to make room and put the scoob into storage

Will do mate, though to be honest its quite easy to change the parts on these.

The lengthiest bit will be the preparation for the roll cage.

Are you keeping the Pug road legal, driving to and from the track?

If I pull my finger out, I may join you in March in my track CRX

Na, I made that mistake with my last pug. I made it road legal and only used it once on the road.

Yeah I have thinking about it, I've been looking for quite awhile but couldn't find something that I really wanted.

I looked at mk1 VW Golf's, bmw e30 325i's and afew others but come to realise you cant really beat a pug for the fun factor plus spares are really easy to come by .

youll be lucky ryan a scooby is prob cheaper to insure than a 205gti.

im guessing its a 1.9 to matt ??

my 2 mates had 205 gti's when i had my 405 mi16 4x4 and we used to have great fun in them

1.9 it is mate, it comes with 2 sets of wheels.

The pug 205 is the next best thing to the scoob.

i cant wait to start tinkering with it, bits here, bits there and away she goes

Cheers mate, appreciate it.

I might take you up on the 4 poster, i'm changing the rear beam for the wider track beam from the 309.

Well I've had abit of a set back with the car today, after going over the engine to find a reason for the water leak, I've found a 6in hair line crack at the back of the block.

Now I have a choice to either get a standard replacement 1.9 8v, I could go for the 16v conversion or a GTI-6 conversion which seems to be common at the moment or something else, either way its apain in the **** as I was looking forward to getting this on the track in March.

GTI-6 I think is the way to go, buy one with crap body work, and rob all the parts off it

Funny you say that mate, I've just been onto the 205 Forum and there's a bloke selling a GTI6 and gearbox with the loom and unlocked ECU.

Hopefully he's still got it, he's located in Bristol so its only a hop across the pond to fetch it.

I think fixing it would only last a short while, I would never trust it on lasting.

I've just bought the engine and box from the 306 gti6 with manifolds and pump and so on and so on.

This way, it'll force me to strip the car down completly and build it up from bottom end up and do a proper job.

I can't wait now, its going to be a handful on the track.

I'm trying to arrange the pickup on Saturday morn from Bristol.

I'm waiting on an answer from the guy, as soon as I know mate, I'll give you a buzz.

Cheers
