Bit of advice.

Bit of advice.
This is mainly aimed at Dylan and Lee (cat172).
I want to change some the bushes on the car. Mainly on the transmission, diffs and engine.
I already have the Whiteline steering rack and diff mounts (loads of yellow discs) ready. But what I would like to do is drop off the front and rear subframes that holds all the tie bars etc and give it a clean and a paint.
Would it be better to buy some second hand tie rods, wishbones and subframes, clean them up, paint, fit new bushes and rubber then fit them to the car. I'll probably mean the car being off the road for a while with the rear diff off but I have a little KA as a runaround until May.
Thoughts please?

Having a spare sub frame would make it far easier for you, but you must consider that you will need the rear end retracked. I did the ones on the car but wish had some that where off the car so I could have had them shot blasted and powder coated. Something on my list of jobs to do this year. If you dig out my post when I did mine it'll give you an idea of what's involved.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Gareth, Dylan,
Thanks very much.
I have ordered a front rear and rear subrame. £30 for both. I have seen some tie bars for £14 a pair and the stabilisers are about the same.
While it's apart I will probably clean up the diff and give it some paint. I am not polishing it though
But, when I do it if anyone wants to give me a hand with experience/knowledge then the bacon butties and tea are on me
Thanks very much.

drive shafts out and drop oil before
it can be done on ramps but diff is light alsoyou can just jacked up and on stands
i think if your chainging bushes etc.. then a lick of paint or spray won't go a miss but as for powder coating i think its abit OTT and not really worth doing unless you are going to show and shine your car at shows
just good prep of the parts with good undercoat and good paint and that should be all they need and the money you would pay for powder coating could be spent better somewhere else
hope this helps mate

Ordered two rear subframes! One is already here
Dan, You can one if your interested?
£15 when it comes
Lee, I probably wont powder coat the diff. Definetly OTT. Undercoat and plenty of main coats Thanks for the advice.
