Right then men. Whilst on my travels ive seen a car im thinking of buying. But this does mean that i would have to sell the JuSTi
The car is question is a 1.4 petrol Seat Ibiza
2000 plate
60,000
The positives
It has electric windows, central locking, lower mileage, lower insurance group, more space inside, a nicer seating position and generally faster.
Now for the negatives
Wont be a subaru owner any longer, cant come on the stand at shows and also wouldn't have any money to spice it up a bit(exhaust, wheels etc)
Obviously you lot will think im mad and say to keep my car but i'm bored of it now due to nothing left to do to it? Also the windows wont go up properly and the heater is dodgy so its doing my head in
What do i do guys?

Don't do it Ryan, the Ibiza is fast becoming the new 106 / Saxo for the new generation of yoofs.
I would keep the Justi as it more unique than the Ibiza and we will all disown you immediately if you ditch the Justi (ok only joking about that bit).
If you really like the Ibiza over the Justi then you should go with what you think is best, after all it is your car and you can do what you want.
After all it will just be a 'filler' car until you get your first Impreza.

As said above, keep the JuSti and fix the wee problems!! Too many Seats on the road, you've got a rare car there dude!! Save the money you'd spend on mods for the Ibiza and get an Impreza when you get enough

Why do you need a bigger car Ry? You have'nt been a naughty boy have you?
In all seriousness though,if it's cheap to fix the problems on the JuSTI i would fix it. You have made the car your own and it would be a shame to see it go (you always remember your first).
I nearly came close to getting rid of mine a few weeks back and leaving the Subaru fold, but it's the lifestyle i would miss most.
If you do buy the Seat then im sure someone will allow you to jump in for shows

I know where you are coming from Ry, i was always like you with my cars when i was younger. I dont think i owned more than one car for over 18months before the scoob and that was only because i couldnt affort to change it at the time.
Now here comes the old man advice
I used to spend money on a new car and then mod it, then sell it for 50% less than the purchase price. I often look back and kick myself because if i kept my first good car (XR2i) for a few years then i would have saved a massive amount of money and had a better car sooner in the long run. If i had, i would have an Sti rather than a WRX now or possibly a Noble already.
Hope that makes sence?????

As said really Ryan I would keep what you have for a little longer yet, build your no claims up more as well. Don't fall into the modding habit and say I'm bored because there is nothing else to do to it lol you have already mentioned two things !
As the guys have said from experiance we have all bought spent and sold and lost money it's car ownership but when you have an indiviual and tidy car why get a tin box that everyone else has on every street corner.
Save some money there for you future one day you may need a decent car when you start working and you may need to cover a few miles in it, then you can simply buy one then....try not to borrow bud save and pay cash is the best advise I could give you, debt free is the way forward.
Anyway back on topic stop itching enjoy yours and at least keep it this year and do a show season numpty because all the work you have done so far will be waisted.... and imagine this you put your car up for sale, some chav turns up and buys it then rags it around a crashes it.... hmmm.
And don't forget how cheap the justi has ben to fix there a few times.

Ry,
Old man advice again.
I know a man that as a Sport Classic on an S Plate for sale. It needs a bit of rear end work (fenah fenah) that you (probably us as well) could do and still drive the JuSTi about.
You could take as long as you want sorting it out building up the NCB as you go!

What to Watch Out For
Build quality complaints include: battery earth lead bolt becoming unscrewed, windscreen wiper spindle unwinding itself and damaging bonnet, ECU unit becoming detached from its under dash mounting.
never had this or heard of this happening. but the ecu tray under scuttle panel is easy accessable.
If exhaust of 1.4 blows don't buy because replacement exhaust cost a fortune as subframe needs to be detached to fit it.
always a way around this with charlie
Heater/radio LCD display, and electronics play up leading to battery drain down. Replacement is £400.
can pic these up on seatcupra.net for pennies. plus i know someone breaking a cupra
Pedal box still prone to failure.
the clutch pedal does snap but a small weld will fis it

Cheers everyone You've put my mind more at rest now. I think the thing is miss most is searching about looking for parts for it because i've found most of them now Plus once i have my years no claims now i will be able to afford the insurance on something a little quicker. Ideally though id like to save up enough money so i can get another car whilst keeping the JuSTi so the real work can start on it
Ryan i wish you never told me you know someone breaking a cupra though
Thanks again everyone for the comments

dont be a numpty
get yourself a impreza 1.6 gl (£500-£600) get all the mods you would put on a turbo, then when you come to getting a turbo put the standard stuff back on the gl and you have an instant modded turbo at no extra cost
i had a 1.6gl (although its only fwd) and it was still nippy as hell and with the exhaust on it it was louder than most cars on the road,
wanst it Si

Jammers had a roll cage in it
The 1.6 may be 2 wheel drive but it has all the parts to connect some extra bits, do a rear brake conversion for some standard wrx brakes plus some 4 pots on the front, when you do the rears you are then able to fit anti roll bars to reduce the body roll. Being front wheel drive helps with the lower power rather than being slugged down with a awd system... all the bits needed are as cheap as chips everyone got them about including me.
If you get a pre facelift even better turbo bumpers and a bonnet rear spoiler it's all there Ryan and it's cheap to do on a pre facelift... then a diy spray job.
