Default WRX Wagon suspension

I wonder if i can get a little help with this one.

The rear right shock absorber on my can has started creaking and i've noticed a little leak from it so i'm going to renew the pair.

As the whole set up has done 70,000+ i might even renew it all.

BUT !!!!!

Do i renew it with oem struts from kyb and fit sports springs

Or do i fit coilovers

I can get a second hand set of tein street/race coilovers for £400ish,in pretty good condition

The kyb shocks are around £80 each plus springs equal £450 ish

I,ve spoken to blue dragoon already on this but what do you guys think

Whoever wins helps me fit it !! whilst i make the tea

I fitted JDM STI shocks and springs to my Bugeye wagon but had to change the rear top mounts, Buggy and Blob is different see.

Piece of wee wee but you then need the geo/alignment doing.

Thanks for the info from Camskill Ian,they are the cheapest so far.

I think my code is GG but they only do them in Excel G shocks which is OE. I'd prefer them in the ultra SR for a bit more firmness.

Does anyone know if uprating just the springs makes much difference ?

Loads of people fitted Eibach Springs to standard shocks with no issues, slightly lower ride height but a more sporty feel.

I would stick with shock absorbers with lowering springs if I were in your position, coilovers are too bouncy and hard even on some of the softer settings.

I have just bought a set of STi pink shock absorbers with Prodrive lowering springs and quite honestly I can't wait to get them changed over and junk the coilovers.

The UK roads just have too many potholes, cuts, repairs etc to make using coilovers on our roads possible, after my recent drive up to North Wales and back I felt like my spine had been smashed in with a lump hammer.

If you want a driver and family friendly car then stick with shock absorbers with uprated springs.

KYB are good replacements from what I have read, as said coilovers are a bit harsh for normal use.
