Question What could cause....

my rear passenger brake pad to fall out?
I thought one of the lugs on the pad it self might of snapped off, but it all looks fine.
I can't see any clips missing that are on the drivers side

Any ideas?

I would have thought if the pads were that low that they could fall out. under braking, although isn't there a retaining clip to stop this??? not sure if that is the right terminology.

Happened to me once on my old valver. Lost the piston in the caliper as well that day good job i had a spare car out the back

I thought that the pad that fell out might of been low, but i found it later in the day and it ain't far of new.
I haven't had the wheels off yet, but from what i can see there are no retaining clips missing.

Pads are EBC Bluestuff, might give Ian Godney(Godspeed) a shout to see if he might have a idea.

The pads should never fall out. There are two main pins that fit through the caliper body and pads. These are held in place with a a larger clip that is held in place with the two pins. At the end of the pins are two small holes where a stiff wire locks the caliper pins stopping them from moving in the caliper. I'd imagine it's this that has snapped (or not been fitted) allowing the main caliper pins to move and release the pad.
OR
are you saying that the pad material had come away from the maain body of the pad?

pins either fallen out due to no retaining clip or the person putting in the pin missed the pad and its fallen through as the pin didnt go through the pad although i dont think there is room for it to fall through forwards as pin would be in way of it coming out backwards even if not holding it.#

Im pretty sure its a fitting issue

Sounds like a fitting issue to me as well. By now I assume the wheel is off and you've had a look at what's there?

Pics would help...has the brake material seperated from the back plate?
Or has the whole pad come out?
