Get one, here's mine,
I love it,
if you test drive one you probablly wont push it hard enough to appreciate it, if you just plod in it it has a lovely little powerband around 2-3k rpm so it feels quite tourquey whitch you would'nt expect from a revvy 2ltr twin cam, but when you give it some over 6,500rpm up to the red line the revs dont drop during the gear changes and the first time i did it it felt like the clutch was slipping but it was'nt, handling is superb with the best front end i've ever felt in any car even when the rear end looses grip its so easy to catch it feels like its happening in slow motion with plenty of time to correct, only place i'd give the Impreza the upper hand would be "very" high speed cornering where the scoob feels much more planted compared with the 197 that starts to get nervous, obviouslly the Impreza would have it from a standing start too, i've had mine about a month now and the best mpg i've seen is 30 and the worst was on the run on sunday where it dropped to 22, if you get one i dont think you'll be disapointed, oh yeah £300 to insure with tesco too

cheers m8. I can't decide really between the clio 182 with cup packs or the clio 197? not alot between them i guess in performance/handling but i think the 182 is better on fuel and the 197 is better looking lol

I drove one of these around the nurburgring for 10 laps and my conclusion was this........
its the best handling car in standard form I have ever driven (and I have had a lot of track experience)
its nippy yes but not the fastest out there
disagree with the torque band one as unless its over 5k it feels like its never ending getting there.......I had to rev the guts of it to get it going good.
which brings me to the gearbox I did not like it at all thought it was terrible forever changing gear again mostly to do with keeping it above 5k.
not slating the car as it has way more pros than cons but just felt the engine is let down with the lack of torque in the lower rev range but is a hoot once you keep those revs high..........again the best handling standard car I have driven

just got back from test driving the clio 197.
Was a reaaly nice drive, brilliant handling, even in 6 th at low revs it pulled well.
All 4 wheels needed refurbing
1 or 2 small marks
as its a 07 plate they recommend to change the belts next march as it will be a 5 year old unfortunatly.
Still unsure what to do about this car at the mo.
Ive also been looking at the fiesta st. A different league i know lol, But still supposed to be great handling and reliable with better fuel economy? Theres a nice white fiesta st at Jeff white car sales in cardiff but i dont know how to post it up on here to see what you think

I have hd 172 cup and i loved the car. Its so light it gave good mpg. Only issue for me is you do have to rev the **** off it like a vtec car as it is pretty gutless until higher revs, handles great though. Only issue is you dont get the warning signs your pushing it to hard, youl just spin the car if you give it too much. Like a go cart really. I have never tried the 197 but the 172 was very flimsy inside, guess thats the build of the car to weigh nothing! Still, my mate had a turbocharged one. Which was mental!
