Advice please. He's been sensible so far. Let's keep him on the straight and narrow and not in a ditch or lampost.

Ry, an ex of mine had a Derv astra 1.8(i think it was 1.8) SRi Cdti in a 3 door, fair play it went like stink and not a bad looking car the 3 door with some nice alloys, had the stiffer suspension etc so wasnt bad handling either. can pick them up pretty cheap too, and they're bloody tremendous on derv, **** it id put red in myself!!!
Alternatively as others have said, as you know my mate had a 172 cup and it went well in fairness, i know the build quality on them and interior aint the best but surely you can cope with that for a couple of years until you get some more ncb. Ffs ive been driving my subaru for 3 years now and fair play the classic interior has a lot to be desired.!got the sti8 seats now but the dash is abismal, but that sort of thing dont bother me much as everything else more than compensates!!!
oh just another thought, 306 Gti6, getting old now i know but you dont see many of them about, not bad handling, a mate just sold his for 2.2k, another mate bought one not long ago for £800!!!worth a look at.
good luck bud
Rob
