Im Not Welsh!
Got chatting to some guy in Tesco earlier from North Wales and he asked where I was from. When i told him i was from Cardiff he went right off on one and started having a go at me saying Im not even Welsh! Apparently people from South Wales are not Welsh!
Just to put my mind at rest I checked on a map, satnav and also my nephews globe and Im happy to confirm that South Wales has not been moved!

Don't worry about it as most of the Goggs are Scousers in disguise, they only say things like that because they have only recently found out the joys of:
1. Gas powered street lighting
2. Running water that isn't at the end of the garden
3. Outside toilets (inside is at least another 10 years off for most of them)
4. Women that aren't their sisters, aunties and mothers
All meant in jest of course, although I'm sure a few will take exception.
But there is a reason why the Romans failed to colonise the North of Wales...

Having to travel extensively in the Land of Goledd I know where your coming from.
They say that there is now bias toward welsh speakers but I have walked into a pub near Caernarfon and been first in line at the bar and been ignored. Was it because I is Sarf!. But it's also happened in Bangor and Bleanau Ffestiniog.
A friend who speaks welsh and is from the Amman Valley say's she would rather be a Golly wog than a Gog!
Not my phrase but her's.

Can of worms indeed
I live in North Wales but I'm not Welsh, nor Scouse but I'm originally from the Wirral, don't you know
I know what you mean about certain pubs, you walk in, they realise you're not from there and the pub goes silent
Its all dependant on where you are as to what reception you get
I work in a RM delivery office in North Wales and out of the 100+ staff only 1 can speak proper Welsh The schools only really teach 'incidental Welsh' too, unless you're in a really rural area.

Seriously, the majority of political and civil bias is based around North West Wales but thankfully they are a minority.
Yet we as Taff's celebrate Lloyd George as an iconic Welshie but he was a Manc!

Sounds like when I went into a pub in Omagh, NI! Music coming from inside, walked in, silence!! Had a beer, very quickly, went on our way, music started up when we left think they may have been able to tell we were Squaddies! That sound like what they're like up there
Anyway, a few of the North Walians I've known sound like plastic Scousers! My mate says if any 'foreigners' come into his local they all start speaking Welsh as they mostly speak English anyway

You know you're a Gogg when..
you and your dog use the same tree....
your house still has the "Wide Load" sign on the back...
your dad walks you to school because you are both in the same grade
your parents met at a family reunion.

I've met a few North Wales bods on rugby trips etc and yes they do think that living in South Wales means that your not Welsh. I think its cos the Capital City is Cardiff and all rugby apart from the odd U21's match is played in Cardiff. All the regions are South Wales based.

Quite a few regions have tried playing some matches up North; the Scarlets, Ospreys and the Blues have all tried playing some home matches up in North Wales but I don't think it was financially viable and wasn't a great success.
