Red face clutch thrust bearing?

Hello, I have a 1995 impreza import and I have this very very annoying squeak coming from where I have narrowed it down to the thrust bearing.

It started now and again while i was driving, thought it was a shock or something. But now I have managed to make it do it while on stop.

So if it pull the clutch out almost all the way it does it and keeps doing it. So i'm guessing it a bearing.

My questions are do you think that is it and is there a easy fix as I am skint. Can you spray some WD40 on it some how? I'm not sure where it is to be honest to have a look myself!
What damage can be done if left alone?

Thanks Claire

The easiest way by taking the starter motor out, and then it will be a sqeeze. Be careful you don't end up soaking your flywheel and clutch.

Forgot to answer the "where is it question"!

(assuming a classic has an hydraulic clutch) If you look at the top of the gearbox you will see the pipe work and plunger and the top of the clutch fork. The thrust bearing is below this (on the other end of the fork)

Thought number 2 for the day

If you remove the rubber boot around the top of the clutch fork then you can grease the bearing from above.

You don't need a ramp, can all be done from the top in about 30 mins

Personally if you can live with it until the clutch needs replacing then do so. Spraying oil near your clutch will definatley shorten its life if you catch the friction plate.

Just my 2 pence worth.
