I'm afraid its a real curse to try and cure the dreaded classic rusty rear arches,it can be done but it needs to be cut out and some new metal welded/bonded in and then filled etc.
Then the most crucial bit is to properly seal up the back side of the inner arch and behind from the inside the boot.
As long as the job is done done dry and sealed before any moisture can enter at all then it will last around 2-4 years.

I know nobody wants rusty rear arches, when you consider how old the classics are now it's good going only having it in one place![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I know there are plenty of owners with classics who are lucky enough to have no rust at all....they are terrible for leaky boots, i had to re seal the boot rubbers on both the classics i once owned..

Even my greenwagon which is just over 11 and a half year old as got rust bubbles despite garaged and always dry before put away and polished constantly
I have just sanded mine down and treated with krust and left them for a month and touch wood haven't bubbled again going to take the wheel off and get under the arches and underseal next and if ok will primer then and get some one like chips away to paint over for £80
I'm surprised noone has made some replacement arches for classics they will make a fortune from them as we all want to keep our classics
Good news is I have no rust any other panel ,so subarus are built to last
