Default none starter, any ideas??

I have a '96 sti, a couple of weeks ago the engine sheered
off 2 bolts on the cambelt tensionor housing, have sorted that
problem, however, on putting it back together the engine refuses
to start. There is spark, pressure from the fuel pump, camshafts were all lined up when the belt was put on. I have now come up against a brick wall
and don't know what to try next. Any suggestins would be greatfully reveived. Cheers

Have you checked the crankshaft sensor?

Did you use a belt that as the alignment marks on it and if so did they line up?

At what location are you checking the fuel pressure. At the filter, fuel pipe to fuel rail or into the injectors?

Just a few thoughts.

If youv got a spark remove your plugs & crank over to see if fuel is misting out of the cylinders. If not then your injectors are not spraying fuel in the cylinder & it won't run.

Did you rebuild the heads or just sort the timing belt. A compression test may be needed to establish if this engine will run as valves may be bent.

It sounds like you have used the wrong timing mark on the bottom pulley.

Be aware there are, for some reason, two on the pulley.

I remember you saying about this to a fella at one of the meets that was asking about doing his own belt. Strange they put 2 marks on there.

It still sparks and injects fuel but at the wrong time so it never fires.

Got me stumped for ages????

Thanks for all the input fellas.
I think I know what the problem is now.
When I lined the crankshaft pulley up, I
miss read the drawings and put the key
for the pulley at the top instead of at the bottom.
The line i should have had at the top was pointing
downwards, so will be putting it back together
tomorrow
