4 Wheel Alignment - Revelation
Over the last few week the Mazda as been on axel stands whilst I cleaned up the suspension.
It all got stripped out, debushed, wire brushed by hand and drill, treated and then poly bushed. The suspension was replaced with KYB Excel shocks and TRIM Springs supplied by MX5 parts.
So when it was back together I could not wait to get the wheels pointing in the right direction and a few miles under the belt before Japfest. I spoke with numerous people online and via forums (in the US and the UK) and was blown away with the vast number of setting and options available. In the end I printed off loads of setting for Road, Track, Combination and Comfort. As all 4 wheels have caster, camber and toe and all the other stuff I was scratching my head.
Not having any alignment kit at home it was off to Three Arches who now have a full 4 wheel alignment setup for a chat with Dean. I managed to down load at least twenty pages for the lads to chew through and come up with a plan.
After a few hours work including some brake bleeding, nut and bolt check on the complete undercarriage and snapped bolt drilling out it was time for a test. Dean explained that the initial set up, which was a bit of a hybrid felt a bit twitchey, so 1/2 degree was changed and he hoped I would like it.
Well, it was pretty good before but it's chuffing amazing. Turn in, bite mid corner and grip is superb. I know the rebush and shocks help but it really is very good.
Roll on the search for supercharger power!
