The time as come for me to hand over the reins to someone else in organising the monthly meets. We work well as an ad hoc group and are by no way a dictator led. I think it's time for one of the new batch to take it on from us "old stagers".

It's not hard, onerous and needs just a few minutes of your time each month. Whilst I still have the 33rd Vintage & Specialist Rally to sort out, that will probably be me. I cannot see me rushing back to Scoob ownership for quite some time. I am having as much fun from a 1.6 engine as I did from a 2 litre flat four.
So who's next?

Sorry to hear this Ian, as you are a cracking organiser. I'm sure you could be the next Alan Sugar or Simon Cowell and do the interviews for the replacement!!

Sorry to hear about this Ian, at the moment I know where you are coming from.
I am not sure that I have the time myself to organise meets etc as on the whole it's a thankless task - not that anyone seeks it, but a little gratitude now and again would I am sure be more than welcome.
You have done a cracking job, and perhaps now is the time for others to step up to the mark and put themselves forward.

Well, have to say thankyou for the organisation you've done to date Ian. This is from the meets, few club stands and so on.
Its not an easy task in arranging all these things but can be accomplished with abit planning and some keyboard skills, been there and done it.
It is a group effort that makes SWS what it is and hope that whoever takes on the role can carry on the same.

Ah no that's not good news at all captain. I haven't done much in the last few years but wanted to get back into the fold again. It's always been like a family and as dan always says its more than a car it's a lifestyle. I believe you will get another leggy but that's my opinion. Your a great man and a fab organiser and I think your shoes will take some filling. Give us a bell anytime mate and don't be a stranger.

Not much more to add I don't suppose.
As a very new member I can say that the contribution you've made to the running of the group has been obvious, and to be able to say that without much actual experience shows how much I've picked up from the threads on here.
It's a peculiar fact that an organiser only gets fulsome and deserved appreciation when they leave. It's because good organisers run things so smoothly and efficiently that there's well, nothing to do really, it's all done for you and there's no way of experiencing the amount of effort being saved.
For example, imagine if each of us had to individually sign up for the Vintage & Classic Car Day. I'd probably leave it too late, or end up rushing around like a blue-a$$ed fly etc.
It doesn't mean that an organiser hasn't been appreciated however.
I won't say 'all the best' now. I'll wait until 10th July, when we can have a bit of a leaving do (I hope).
Your meal's on me Captain.

It appears my "stepping down" as been seen as a departure from SWS. Sadly for some, this is not the case. I shall be around for quite sometime to come and many thanks for the birthday messages.
Anyway who would look after and ride shotgun/co-pilot/dad/maid (literally) for VC when we are away from home?
PS Armed Forces Day in Coopers Field this Saturday (29th June), I'll be under cover awaiting my departure to sunny climes for a holiday and will be about at some stage.

Didn't think you'd leave the fold completely...thankfully!
Is that the secret field?

I don't mind taking over the organisation of the monthly meets and local events, I would appreciate help from others as and when required.
I certainly won't be able to fill Ian's shoes as he has done a cracking job, as Kev did before that but I am willing to give it a go and see how I get on.
