Default New Focus ST3

The son-in-law just picked up a brand new Focus ST3 in that rather nice RS Blue (?). The Recaro's are the danglies and it is quite interesting to drive. The fuel consumption is remarkable compared to a Scoob and it's not even run in yet!

He's down this weekend so may persuade him to go for a drive over some of the best bits .

I'll let you know how it goes.

I found the previous one pretty good, great engine and went round corners well. Shame they ditched the 2.5 but it makes sense with the figures it quotes.

That has the new Ford Econic engine I believe, it is more powerful and gives more torque than the Volvo 2.5 5 cylinder engine it's just replaced.

Very nice cars indeed, I did consider one of the last shaped ST's as having driven one I was impressed but it just doesn't have the 'drama' of driving an Impreza - the exhaust note is pretty dire in my opinion and it doesn't feel as urgent, although it was probably just as fast.

I do like the latest model in the bright (sunburst?) metallic yellow/gold colour.

I found the the same thing, it was fast and you got up to speed pretty quick, but the power was too smooth.

torque than many scoobies, wrx no chance and frightens many sti's

Corners, torque steer and damp roads prove a point.

Gotta love AWD.

good mate had one from brand new for 4 month's, surprisingly nippy at the top end, accelaration was not quite up to it my scoob, probably due to the power to weight ratio.

It shat 3rd and 4th gear synchro at 3k miles, also the bluetooth packed in for a month, and lawrence of kemnay couldnt find the fault for over a month afterwards. Traded in for a new Mx5
