Default Antifreeze, straight answer please!!

Hi all,
I have carried out quite a bit of research on the correct antifreeze for my car but cant find a straight answer.
Can someone please tell me what standard spec antifreeze i need to be looking for please? I dont need anything high performance as the car rarely gets pushed hard and will not be on a track any time soon.

Cheers in advance, Ian

Cheers Ty I should have learned by now that sometimes I am better off just looking in the book but the net is so convenient if not full of miss guided info, smoke and mirrors and my book is under my telly which requires me to A: remember to check when i am in the house and B: drag my **** off the sofa!

Buying the shell helix oil actually, didnt realise they did an antifreeze

Cheers again

Cheers Ian mate, will google that. I cant find anything related to shell and my manual doesnt state a spec. Why does something so simple seem like a dark art?!

Ian (Evil Soup), I know that Shell Helix anti-freeze is definitely recommended as that is what a lot of the dealerships sell including Keith Price who I bought mine from, but any Shell forecourt should have it on sale.

From what I understand any blue glycol anti-freeze will be fine at the right mixture level, just don't use a pink glycol anti-freeze as this can lead to deposits and furring in the coolant system.

Thanks again for all the advice. Think I may go with Prestons longlife concentrate then as this is easy to find and get delivered. Still can't find the shell stuff and don't have a shell dealer near by so seems like that one is out of the window.

The debate behind anti-freeze is something else all together, didn't realise what I was geting into when I started doing research on it. Its a real headache!!

Cheers again

It's the calcium carbonate deposits in towns water which causes limescale (furring) not the antifreeze.

Cheers mate, I actually purchased engine oil, oil filter, gear oil, anti-freeze and front pads all on e-bay last night but no polish, don't get as much time for that as I would like these days

I keep hearing a lot about costco but have never been in there, is it worth the £30 membership then?

Just bought a Toshiba Laptop, £299 inc VAT, internet search showed up the same model in a few searches but they where all at least £60 to 150 more! Just about to get a Pimlico Urban Hybrid Bike for £180.
Prestone Longlife £11.90 for 4 Litres.
8 litres of Mobil 1 £28.
30 Microfibre (proper job's) £13.
Bosch batteries more than half the price of Halfords and they do Bridgestone and Michelin tyres including Nitrogen.
Levi Docker Trousers £12.
All prices include VAT. But be careful as you can get caught out with some stuff as it's cheaper elsewhere.

If you want to pop down one day I can take two other adults with me on my own card.

No Lee. Public membership is available, a bonus if you bulk buy for a growing family.
