Front splitter-CCCRRRAAACCCKKK - there goes another
I took the car for a run out past Abergavenny, out along the road to Skenfrith and on out to Ross on Wye before returning home along the A449.
As I headed along the road from Abergavenny out to Skenfrith I pulled into a layby so I could….. answer nature’s call.
As I pulled into the layby I noticed that the council had put a mound of tarmac across the layby to prevent people driving along its entire length. Because I wanted to be discreet I tried to tuck the car in tight and pulled up to the mound of tarmac. All of a sudden CRACK, big wince from me, as if someone just put my bollocks in a vice.
Into reverse, gently does it… CRACK. I get out and take a look and discover the whole front portion of the splitter neatly placed on the mound of tarmac.
By that point my head was in the shed so after several moments of cursing the sky I decided I would attempt to remove the two parts left on the car. The 'side bits'.
A few cars passed me while I was shouting at the sky so I can only imagine what the drivers passing must have thought of me.
To remove the side bits of what was left of the splitterI had to lie on the floor and use a knife and pliers to remove the bolts and cable ties. After 10 minutes of twisting stretching and more cursing I got the bits off so was relieved to be able to jump back in the car in the warm and dry. Straight away I noticed a smell of dog doings and looked down to find my daps were covered in it and so was my bloody carpet. Out I jump ready to give the sky another good talking to.
I was crushed.
I have had the present Impreza 11 months and that is the second splitter I have now destroyed.
I need to be more careful.

You are obviously driving it wrong to lose splitters like that? The only splitter i have ever cracked was by a badger running out at me!
You have to be way more careful and observant in a lower car

I just realised that several weeks ago while on an early hours blast I hit a rabbit whilst travelling about 70MHP which might have weakened my splitter.
It was one of those situations where you only have a second to decide if you are going to hit the brakes and try to avoid or just plough on. I chose the latter despite the fact that I was the only car on the road.
As soon as I made contact with the bunny I immediately thought – Splitter.
When I got home I had a look and saw that it had detached itself along two bolts which I fixed back on the following day.

Nightmare mate!! but this has given me abit of a chuckle with the old dog doings similar thing happened with me when I had my S3. Out for a nice drive on a Sunday afternoon with the misses and her lil dog (****su), I did open the car up a few times on our travels. Thought what is that awful smell looked behind me her dog had spewed all over the place and was all in her fur. Luckily for me with the seats being all leather was a lot easier to clean up still stunk though! These days no dog goes in the car only the van.
