Default I'm I missing the point??

Guys, I've been over seeing one of my mukka's tonight who is a petrol head and loves going out on his bike, and give it some beans for the smile factor, he also has said sometimes when he goes to meets to do with his bike that a lot of people are so scared to even open their bikes up and get it dirty or they might break the speed limit on an open road that they miss the whole point of having a super bike?? He does a two hour ride enjoying himself and riding his bike as it should be for his buzz and money's worth that he has paid for.. When he gets back to the 'meet' there is the same guy in his big expensive leathers and bike sipping coffee and sat on the same stool admiring his own bike?? Why go out and buy something that is purely to enjoy and to make your heart race when the best buzz your having is the caffeine from your coffee!!! That guy would be better off rolling up to the meet with a moped like sweet chuck would out of police academy 3 does plus save himself money! Don't make sense to me as I'm sure we all buy scoobies for the WOW factor and to enjoy them purely on power and drivability? I'm not saying screw your car over and abuse it until it goes bang but I think scoobies are to enjoy for power and in a way they are built to handle tight corners and to get your arsehole twitching look after your car in every way but don't lose sight on why you ever wanted a scooby in the first place, don't roll up saying my car is 500 bhp when all it does is 60mph in 6th gear as the driver is to scared to put his foot down and ask wonga for a loan if it goes bang Thought scoobies are rally cars to be enjoyed!

They are mate, but not everyone can drive like Colin Mcrea, as quite a few discover quite quickly in a proper Impreza.

That statement is compounded for motorbikes, as you really do take your life into your hands when you go out on a motorbike.

So it's better that not all of us go mental and it has the benefit of there being some nice un-abused examples being left for us serial abusers.

I totally agree not to abuse your car to the point of it going bang, but to love it and make it look nice etc.. But also to enjoy it as it should be? Maybe it's because I have gone back to the classic that I see it more of a impreza to drive rather than the latest models?? Yeah my mukka does love his bike but I see his point in the fact that a lot of people would rather spend tons of money just to say I've got a super bike/ impreza without really enjoying it for what it is

I totally agree.
Some people do it for the pub talk.

Bus station in Abergavenny by any chance?? I used to be a regular there for a good few years and the conversations that I've overheard would give Mr Rossi a run for his money and used to make me chuckle knowing how those people ride but the plus side to that is all those are still alive and a boy who I used to ride with every week is not.

I know another guy in Blaenavon who owns a superbike and never seen him over 50mph when I've followed him home and often said to my Mrs I don't know why he's buys those sort of bikes but obviously he loves the pose value of the bike and how it rides or he wouldn't have bought it. In my experience a 600cc sports bike is more than ample for the road and the speeds reached on that if caught would see you a spell in prison, which happened to my mate who I mentioned is no longer with us. The most fun I've ever had is on a KTM 650 LC4 Supermoto and on the right road will run rings around a sports bike.
You never know Bry in another 10 years I'll be that guy with the flash super bike pottering around at 50MPH, just hope my leather romper suit still fits!!

I agree with that.
Not everyone (most of us) can fully utilise the power in these things.

I remember passing my test and within an hour or so putting a nice dent in mum's escort 1100 because I thought I could do the hairpin bend in 1.
First Subaru I had I didn't realise that I was nowhere near using it for what it could do until an ex Class N friend drove it with me in it !

Another issue of course is other roadusers.
The number of times a muppet pulls out on me is unbelievable (I think I'm paranoid at times ).
Most people don't do MSM (and most not even the mirror imo) and we all know how quickly a Subaru can pick up. I'm glad I was taught to drive 'defensively'.

I think you have to find the balance between wasting your money on something you won't (or can't) take to a high degree of its performance and wasting your money by overstretching yourself and writing it off.
