Ok , first make sure you have the right one , go check it against the uploaded photo below.

Then to get it off , For that you need a 10mm HEX socket on 1/2 inch square drive and you need to block the Cam from turning. Behind the Sprocket of the cam shaft is a 1 inch /1/8th flat for an open end spanner (metric 28,5mm).
I found this the best way to get it solid.

If you want , or you can try to jam it with a pair of mole grips on the Cambelt. And also try a large screw driver on against the tensioner , but you will need your mate to do that while you pull like a rigger on your extension bar. You might find it helpful to also jam the flywheel.

Then its best is to use a good sized extension on the bar 3-4ft is best. Get your mate to hold the block as if its out of the car when you jump on the bar it will move around , and that makes it harder to get a really good pull on it.

When you have it taken off ok , give me your IBAN details, You can email me on ralph-hyde@gmx.de with that , I will send you the address the rest for postage and for the bolt once you worked it all out and if everythings ok. Thanks Ralph

Or I could just use the correct subaru spanner and hex socket that I have here instead of hacking at it??

Based on you asking for my iban details I'd say this isnt going to be posted to a uk address, therefore i'll pass on the £30 offer.

You may want to invest in one of these instead of jamming stuff in your cambelt

Nice tool but rather expensive for what it is don't you think ?

If you have a 10 mm spanner and a 1 1/8 open ended you can take the rocker cover off and directly hold the Cam itself, rather than using the tool you show here and which I actually also used.

This tool cannot be held solidly on the rather rounded smooth Bakerlight plastic profile that causes you to slip off while you are pulling hard the otherway on the 10mm Bolt with a 4 ft leverage.

The consequence is a broken Camsprocket , skinned knuckles and a lot more swearing when you find out after drilling out with a 3- 7 mm HSS to stress release the bolt , then to discover that you could have held the cam directly far better with the Open end spanner from behind.
I have the T shirt. The tool you show is fine to use if you are assembling.
Anyway Im going to offer 32 pounds for the Sprocket/bolt + extra for postage as I originally stated now to Gazza . Thanks Ralph

Thanks for offer , I had already agreed with Gazza . but between me not having a paypal account set up and him sending me the wrong address and then going on vacation we messed it up.

Have to give the engine hoist back on Monday , so unfortunaetly had to pay 100 to get one from the Subaru stealership and I fitted it yesterday.

Thanks anyway . Ralph
