Now I'm Scoobless I'm after a genuine very well looked after car standard spec, not highly modified.
Must be below 40k miles, would prefer blue but not all that fussed.
Cash-money waiting

hello mate, i've emailed you a couple of times i have a Type R for sale:
Here is the spec let me know if you're interested
The car is a 98 R Reg, Sonic Blue Sti4 Type R in excellent condition, with about 60k miles and full history from new.
As a Type R, it has the following as standard spec:
3 door body shell
Close ratio quick shift Group N gearbox with beefed up drive shafts
(just under 1000rpm per 10mph in fifth). Blue printed engine - redlined at 8250 rpm Low friction aluminium inverted struts
4 piston front and 2 piston rear brake callipers Front, rear and central limited slip differential
Adjustable centre diff (from a dial on the centre console) which allows customisation of handling characteristics from rear-drive - to full 4
Wheel drive with diff lock (for gravel, ice etc...)
Intercooler water spray cooling system.
Front strut brace, rear solid bulkhead
Climate control air con
Electric windows
Electric folding door mirrors
Fully colour coded
Low front splitter
Factory extra - quick steering rack - very rare and gives 2.5 turns lock to lock.
As you may know, Imprezas do need and benefit from certain mods (especially the brakes!!), and the following very high quality components have been added to the car. I have included some links so you can check out the suppliers and fitters where necessary. This gives you an idea of their value too!! Sorry if you are familiar with all this already.
Drivetrain
Full Power Engineering T75 exhaust system, sounds awesome Blitz Sus Induction kit AP Racing clutch
www.powerengineering.co.uk
Suspension, brakes and wheels
Up rated Group N discs, pads and dot 5 fluid
17 inch silver Mim Brescia wheels from Scoobysport with 4 new Yokohama
Tyres position tyres- The 17'' wheels improve the ride
dramatically - weird.
www.scoobysport.co.uk
Had full Power Engineering laser alignment to Prodrive settings so handles brilliantly.
Styling
Scoobysport carbon fibre 22B rear wing
Clear side repeaters
Other
Full Cat 1 alarm and immobiliser
Also has an up-rated but modest CD player and speakers.
Basically the car looks a lot like a P1 (same colour, very similar rear wing, similar wheels, just a lighter silver colour), but has considerably higher performance due to lower weight, shorter gears, and more power and torque.
The mods are very safe i.e. just breathing mods which give the engine back its natural outputs. they also improve fuel consumption greatly and I Can get high 20s mpg if taking it relatively easy. I have the print outs from Power Engineering where it made 313 Bhp. Standard cars have 280 BHP Peaking at about 7.5k revs, and 260lbs/ft or torque at 4-4.5k. With these mods, useful boost comes in from 2-2.5k revs, the torque curve is flatter and there is more power - delivery basically starts earlier, harder and remains all the way up to the 8250 redline - urge at any revs from 3000 to the redline is pretty much the same i.e. huge. In standard form Type Rs do 0-60 in about 4.2 secs, and 0-100 in about 12.5, I have never timed mine and don't do these sorts of launches anyway. Rest assured that it is extremely quick. Power/weight ratio is about (313bhp/1250kg x 1000) 252 Bhp/tonne.
Always run on Opyimax or SUL. The car was imported by Park Lane, and has had full history with them, Power Engineering or other specialists and has had the major cambelt service etc. It was imported used, but has its Japanese service history (very rare), plus Park Lane are probably the most reputable company in the UK for imports. Check out www.parklaneuk.net. I have had it inspected and HPId etc, but would be happy for you to do any check you like.
It is in excellent condition, with a few of the ubiquitous stone chips.
It looks stunning. The interior is in very good condition.
I have recently had the bottom engine completely rebuilt with new crank, bearings, shells and oil ump
New front wheel bearings
New Brake Pads
New Discs
New Brake Master Cylinder
I would be looking for around £14,700 o.n.o.

Hol the RA was a very nice car, very very nice car, but it looked kinda "old"
It had a weeny rear spoiler and no front lip so looked really plane and dated kinda thing, well compared to what I'm use to anyway
Rather than rush in and get a Sti4 I've decided (for now ) to hang on till the right Type R 5 comes along. (not a yellow one )
Just means I gotta walk everywhere, or get a £500 banger for a bit

Hi, i'm kind of half thinking about selling mine. ITS AN AMAZING CAR IN AMAZING CONDITION. For spec and more pics go onto the for sale bit and look for "Awesome Type R V5 forsale". Its had a few bits done to it,but i have all standard parts. The engine is so much stonger than standard and you wont have any V5 engine det problems that you hear about. Hope you like, i love it.
Any questions call me on 07702 256252

Mega,
Shame that really, but I think you are right waiting for the right car. I passed over a couple of R's before I found one I couldnt logically refuse.
I would also have preferred a V for the styling, but as you know this IV came along and you soon wont be able to tell.
My offer of coming with you to look at cars at the weekends, still stands.

just out of interest what do you have to spend? It may help people decided if they want to part with there car. I did think about taking all the bits of my car,so who ever buys it wouldnt have "my car".
Yes mine is a minter thanks for noticing, it took me over 6 months of solid looking to find mine. That was two and half years ago and they havent made any more since then. Good luck with your hunt.

mega,
buy one sensibly modded by someone like BRD (although there is no one quite like BRD). mine is fast and very reliable. you will want to mod it anyway. save yourself alot of money. there is plenty about. i can not stress this enough.

Stu nah, not going to modify the next one
Got too expensive on my last one and its a slippery slope
That's partly why I'm looking for a standard type r if possible, I think keeping it as near to standard as possible enhances the resale value when it comes to shift it.
Mikey I've not heard anything from you, do you still want to sell your car?
