The mileage on my car is no indicator of its true condition, anyone making a decision on this alone is missing out on a great car. For starters, the odometer over-reads by 12-15% so the indicated mileage is much higher that real miles covered. (service intervals will aalso have been more frequent than necessary). Go look at loads like I did before I purchased this one. One I looked at had 29,000 miles on the clock.....yeah right! Every one knows that most low mileage imports get clocked on the boat on the way over. This one has been in the UK alsmost from new with all the old MOT's try tracking the history of many imports.....almost impossible.
As for performance add-ons, you dont need any with a factory 300BHP model.

For the rather expensive V reg you just demonstrated above (its going to be running approx 250bhp btw but also the warranty wont be worth the paper its printed on if the engine goes bang due to "other modifications") so what your really after is a limited edition STi, which will have pretty much all of the above on (except the brakes) for around 15k (and about 40k miles).
But IMHO if you want to play the modifying game then your not going to see a UK turbo with a warranty anyway, once your beyond the standard PPP, anything after that and out of the window goes any warranty cover and your going to have to put your hand in your pocket and start paying out...... no other way of doing it.....

Should say that you could get a UK STi7 with PPP, thats 305ps (300bhp) but the prices will probably be out of your range (mid 20k springs to mind from a dealer).

Mileage shouldnt be a problem if the car has been fully serviced, you have to ensure though that if the car has been modified in any way that its had a remap (to be on the safe side as the later JDM cars had a tendancy to run too lean and go bang) but if you look around you will find enough of a bargain (making sure it has as much service history/bills/receipts etc) to show its a genuine and well looked after car (which is what you want really).
All i can say is just do as much research into the car that you desire (ie if its an STi then see what the specs are etc, check out www.sidc.co.uk) and dont buy the first one you find (unless its a mint example
)

PS, yup the car advertised seems to be very good value for money, but its your money so you have to spend it![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)

Flyboy your quote:- "Every one knows that most low mileage imports get clocked on the boat on the way over"
I find this sort of talk very offensive. The mileages for cars sold at auction in Japan can be checked through BIMTA for £17.50.
There are low mileage car in Japan because their average mileage is much lower than ours, everybody knows this.

B3DOO, how do you intend to get 300BHP out of a UK car with "a tweak"
Also the STI 300 BHP mentioned above looks to me to be excellent value for this type of car. Some dealers are asking £12999 for cars like this. It could be you are missing the big differences between a UK car and an STI.

Perry,
Where abouts are you ?
It's time for a change - I've had my STi4 for over 4 years now.....
I bought it brand new and it's a 98(S) Silver 4 door and I've done 40k miles.
Mostly standard except for a few sensible
mods -
Scoobysport Cibie driving lamps with clear plastic protectors (I still have the STi blanking plates)
Clear front indicators & side repeaters
Clear plastic headlight protectors
Stainless Intercooler protector
K&N panel air filter
Scoobysport downpipe
PE 'catted' centre section (so MOT emmissions OK)
(Standard STi back box - I tried Scoobysport & Magnex, but I like it quiet !)
Prodrive Alcon front discs - standard size
Mintex 1155 pads
Goodridge brake lines
Brand new (<400 miles) F1 GSD3's all round
Momo Race Air Leather gear **** (matches steering wheel)
I wouldn't describe it as mint - it has a couple of scuffs & parking dents, but it has been generally well looked after - it is over 4 years old and has been used so I reckon it's about average.
Full service history - maintained regardless of cost.
I'm in Peterborough if you're interested - not really sure what it's worth, but we're both capable of looking up othere examples & I'm sure we could work something out.........
