Gents.

Big end gone (time bomb version V)! Considering engine replacement rather than rebuild if decent low mileage engine available? Looking to spend £1200, is this possible?

John.

PS

I have been quoted £600 to fit engine plus £150 ish for sundry replacement parts (timing belt, oil, filter etc). Does this seem a good deal?

John, the cost is about right - who are you using if you don't mind me asking...

Scooby do.

The guy is local to me (Bracknell, Berks) and deals with Subaru's on a daily basis (not Subaru dealer though).

Ok.. one BIG word of advice - when buying an STI engine - ensure it is an STI engine - best thing to do is take it apart and ensure it's got sti internals and not UK.

There has been a lot of uk engines been sold as STI's (I've seen 3 so far)
